I didn`t think that Melnichuk will be so bad. SKA is too strong that`s why their goalies always have good stats. Last season Melnichuk wasn`t the best G even in Torpedo, all three G had similar stats.
I bet Askarov will disappoint many people too.

Okay, so my thought on Melnichuk was ignorant. I had no idea hes that bad.

Don't be too harsh on yourself, but yeah our AHL goaltending is in a woeful state at the moment.

With the way the Barracuda are playing I wouldn't mind them just auditioning some new goalies for the last couple months of the season, what's it going to hurt?

Who would give up assets for Melnichuk? Feels a lot more likely to me he's non-qualified by us at the end of the season.

He's statistically the worst goalie in the AHL at the moment.

Right after I read your question a video ad popped up on my phone with the word "ME" in giant letters. It was pretty upsetting, I have to admit.

I haven't been a fan of Askarov for a few years. I remember watching him at the WJCs in Vancouver and thinking "that's it?"

What about Gushy?

The other acceptable Standard Hockey Nickname would be Gushers. I like that because it creates branding opportunities.

I truly truly believe and hope that Eklund will be a 1st line forward. But man it would look bad if he ended up not panning out and DW Jr is on record saying he was the second best player in the draft.

Seems like hes a pretty Barzal-esque player, and I think Barzal is probably the most overrated player in the league. Incredibly skilled but not good enough anywhere else to let him actually use that skill. I know people have begun gushing over small players, but the only truly good smaller players are Kane and to a lesser extent Gaudreau. He'll probably be at least top 6 but those people who are expecting him to be like a mini McDavid are probably mistaken.

They need him to be like McDavid though. They probably hit on one of Coe/Guschin/Robinson, but I expect Bordeleau to be a middle 6 at best and Weisblatt to be a bust, so if Eklund is nothing more than middle 6 they're screwed longer than people realize.

Barzal is under the thumb of Trotz. If he played in Edmonton it would be quite different

There are at least a dozen first line NHL forwards who are roughly the same size as Eklund. If he fails it'll be because he's just not skilled enough not because he's too small.

Goose may be closer than we think, at least he will be playing AHL. Hopefully he will have a great Training Camp and fight for a spot. Next year should be all about seeing what we have in the pipeline.

Hope is an illusion and promise is little more than the opportunity for betrayal.

Eklund is never going to score again. He’s had 3 or more scoring chances this period and nothing to show for it. He’s getting the chances and looks fast this game, but man it’s like watching Gregor

I hope he scores on Thursday as I bought ticket for Thursdays game against Färjestad. But there is still difference between Eklund and Gregor. Gregor doesn't have that much hockey IQ but Eklund hockey IQ is sky high.
