Through 44 games, the Jackets are in 8th place in the league for total shots on goal. What an amazing little stat. I absolutely love how Evason has give the team the freedom to just shoot from anywhere. For far too many years, the mindset of the team (coach) was timid and hesitant instead of just shooting with abandon. Good things happen...
And just like that, CBJ jumped into 5th place, as of this moment. Cool beans.

Took care of our part. Glad to see the team not overlook this one. Lead wire to wire which is what a good team is supposed to do against a worse team. Way to avoid the trap. Also someone is going to hire JVR as a coach just to teach puck tips, it is wild how good he is at it.

The next part of the schedule is brutal
I think its going to be the make or break of the season. Its a chance to punch the Rangers and islanders out of the playoff conversation and two tests against eastern conference playoff teams. If the road trip goes well I could be the crucible the team needs to really bring the playoff wild card race home.

I'd say it's a bit early for make or break time but I do think this is an important road trip.

A 2-2 record with one of the wins versus TOR or CAR and I'd call the trip a success.

I'm split. I agree in principle, but I think that the trade deadline and the earlier 4 nations tournament are going to shorten the decision window for trades and a bad road trip combined with a very tough end of Jan will probably put us in the seller spot. Alternatively, an an overperformance probably means we look to add. Its just a short evaluation window and by all rumors we are getting a ton of calls on Proverov and the offers (Seravelli & Johnston for what its worth) are saying that the return is more than a 1st round pick. I hate that hitting a skid at the wrong time could wreck and Cinderella story but it does seem possible. Maybe DW can figure out a hockey trade and upgrade for the immediate and long term, but I'm not holding my breath.

According to Porty's podcast from yesterday, the decision on trade deadline approach has pretty much been made, they will be looking at "hockey trades", ie, trading one player for another player that would help us more with the playoff chase. They will not be looking for "picks or prospects".
