Marc Bergevin attending his second straight Sharks game in person, anything to this? Seems unlikely he would be there scouting the Sharks for their game in a few weeks.

I know in the past few years when the Habs play in California the management team usually heads to California 7-10 days early for scouting.

Furthermore, I can't see who the Habs would be interested in from the Sharks (who's actually available). Tierney? Ward?

Last I checked, Montreal was looking for a top-4 LD. That's Dillon (or perhaps Martin, though much less likely).

Management attendance at games is completely meaningless. You can't decipher their agenda, nor can a link be made with any particular players. It could be anything -- maybe he got to town early and took in a few games or whatever other interests may be at play.

Trying to extrapolate from attendance at games is a just a crapshoot.

Yet people are trying to link the flames and leafs over this haha.

If it is a trade, Montreal is doing pretty damn good, can't see it being more than perhaps a utility forward?

I know I'm dreaming (and this is all for speculation anyway) but what would Braum cost?

Patrick Marleau. book it. He is looking for leadership.

No thanks. If anything, we want an upgrade. The Habs can't offer any of Galchenyuk, Radulov or Gallagher. Who is left? Plus we'd have to take back significant cap. In all, trading Marleau to the Habs makes no sense for the Sharks.

Bergevin is doing the rounds. Visiting possible trade partners and sizing up proposals. He's looking for a C or a LD. Could also just be for depth.

What's SJ's protection list look like, at this time?

It's probably nothing big. My guess is that Bergevin might be interested in Dillon, he's a big lefty D that would slot well alongside Petry.

Or maybe Boedker, he isn't clicking in SJ from what I've heard, but his speed game might fit well in MTL.

Few weeks? Habs/Sharks play this upcoming Friday. Unless its some minor deal, I can't think of any kind of hockey trade these two teams would make with eachother.

Are Bergevin and Wilson close from their playing days as Hawks?

Come on, its not going to be Marleau since he (and Thornton) have significantly greater value to San Jose. No one is going to offer an upgrade or even lateral player for a 37 year old pending UFA, regardless of talent level.

i'don't think top4 LD is a priority, I don't even know why we say top 4LD cause Markov is on the second pairing LD. SO in reality we are looking for a trop pairing LD which I find unlikely. I think a solid bottom 6 RD (Pteryn hasn't shown us what we want.

a 2C would be nice, but s would a Left winger with size and grit

Then try to offer something that makes us better now.

Uh, I didn't offer anything. Neither did the guy you were replying to. Who is an Oilers fan. This is speculation as to why Montreal is scouting San Jose and who they may be scouting on San Jose.

Without making an offer, I'd think Bergevin was looking at Couture or Vlasic.

Realistically though, I'd say he's just window shopping and left his credit card at home. ;)

Yeah, I'd say so.

I was replying to comment about Bergevin potentially looking at Marleau. He can look all he likes, but there is really very few deals to be made between these two teams. And any deal would be minor.

The thing is though, even if Montreal is trying to make a trade to contend, the Sharks are trying to contend too. So if we wanted to get a top 6F/top 4D from SJ, we'd have to give something significant back as well. The Sharks wouldn't just accept a prospect for top 6F/top 4D trade.

Just throwing this out there but how about Brendan Dillon and a late pick (6th/7th) for Sven Andrighetto and a 2nd or 3rd? Sharks get to ice Demelo with Schlemko on the 3rd pair which IMO is just as effective. They also get cap space to potentially add a player to help their cup run at the deadline and get a prospect in Andrighetto that could likely use a change of scenery and coming to a team that already has 3 Swiss prospects will ease the transition for him. Montreal gets an upgrade on LD and a player signed to a cap friendly deal @3.3 for three more seasons.
