It was pretty obvious to me watching preseason that he was going to succeed. He looked great And I honestly didn't expect that prior to the preseason either. He's just becoming a steady defender.

More so when we got him from Hall back in 2019, I remember being satisfied with just Mercer but Mercer + Bahl is pretty damn good.

Smith is nothing but a liability. He's the only player on this team right now that sticks out like a sore thumb in a bad way. He brings nothing good to the table. All he brings is a guaranteed penalty every game, sometimes 2.

Certainly not as bad as his goals against Philly or the first goal against the Ducks.

Almost every time I agree with your assessment on goals allowed , but that was a crazy shot. 1/8” inch off in any direction and that doesn’t go in. I don’t fault Blackwood on that one. Sometimes you just tip your hat to the shooter for making a perfect shot. You can make an case for every goal is technically stoppable , same as this one , but I wouldn’t say it’s a ”bad“ or soft goal.

Hamilton struggling with ouck awareness today. Jack must be under the weather. Tatar is just a fourth line player without any physical element at this point. Defensive zone coverage has been up and down. As always they should be up 3-1 or 4-1. If they take their foot off the gas that’s on them .
