During every player of the game ceremony when the announcer brings up the painted canoe paddle it always sounds like he says "towel" and I have a brief "wtf?" moment.

Also maybe get someone else to hand out the paddles after that dopey kid tried to make himself a into ameme during the ceremony.

Watched the game on delay tonight and was quite pleased with Dickinson's performance. Once he started to get more regular shifts late in the first and then on starting the second, he really seemed to settle in.

I thought he made a concerted effort to play a focused defensive game tonight--playing well positionally, using his body and stick effectively, and not going wandering much. A very disciplined game, which can't be easy for him coming from playing a more adventurous, offensive-minded role for London.

He did well under pressure, even if you could occasionally see those moments creep in of indecision, but again, a concerted effort to just make the smart, often simple play, and that was really beneficial to the team when they were under the cosh in their own zone--he did well to ease pressure and get the puck moving so it could get out of the zone. And I still am enamored by his size/skating combo.

Of course, the whole game was pretty much dominated by Canada, so it was hard to take much out of Halttunen's performance (he's only ever going to be so effective playing without the puck). Still very dangerous on the power play even though opponents are clearly onto him and game-planning for him.

No. I'm not quite sure how to classify it. It started out as an automotive store way back in the, but it has expanded out to carry basically everything short of significant groceries. It also tends to have a better selection of housewares, yardwork stuff, and tools than something like Walmart. If I need tools or the like and don't need something specialized enough to need to go to Home Depot then chances are I'll go to Canadian Tire because it's cheaper and has a better product warranty (all their house brand tools have a pretty much no-questions-asked lifetime guarantee as long as you have the receipt.) They're also better than something like Walmart for sporting goods, household storage (plastic totes and bins) and "utility" furniture like dressers, cabinets, shelving units, etc, and kitchen wares.

Don't forget Canadian Tire money

I really liked Schaefer's game - I would not be disappointed in him at 1OA at the moment.

Halttunen needs to move his feet more. A great shot doesn't help if you can't get open to take one
I really think this will make or break his career. He's added some degrees of playmaking, compete, and physicality to his game this year that I've liked, but if he can't get his skating and conditioning up to snuff then he's just going to straight up bust.

Kirsch gives up a late goal to sink the Swiss, who lose 2-1. The Shork is strong with him already :sarcasm:

(seriously, that goal wasn't on him. It was an absolutely abhorrent turnover from a Swiss D right up the middle)

Kirsch was mighty strong. Rebound control wasn't always ideal but other than that he looked sharp, calm and composed. Stopped everything he possibly could have.

Remains to be seen if he gets another start though as Elijah Neuenschwander appears to be the Swiss nr.1 for the tournament.

That was a crazy crash by Schaefer. He entered the offensive zone with speed a partial breakaway and shot the puck with the defender near the middle of the ice, then was apparently watching for the rebound and I don't know what he was thinking but just rammed his shoulder into the net. He went down hard I thought he hurt his leg but was holding his shoulder, looked like a significant injury. So weird I re-watched the replay and at first thought he figured he would go around the back of the net but it didn't even look like that. Someone should post a video of it with hopes someone could explain what he was doing. :amazed::dunno:

Best explanation i can come up with is keep your head up kid. I think his eyes were just puck watching to hopefully find the rebound.

One thing I’m noticing obviously since we’re watching Dick like a hawk, how infrequently Canada makes D to D passes in the offensive zone
Or even forward to defense passes, only time they use them is for tee forwards to pass the puck around the boards then back low again.
