1) I'm never hoping for another team's prospect to succeed but this is ultimately a prospect forum and it's at least the least interesting takeYou're 100% right, with a few follow up questions:
1) if you're rooting for someone else's team's prospect to fail, what's the issue? You're right 90% of the time and it's fun. I personally don't really want to see guys the Sharks could have drafted become monsters, or other teams' rebuilds do better than ours. I can appreciate great hockey but do I want that in lieu of Sharks success? Hell no.
2) is it cowardly for any fan to do this, or just cowardly to do it on a message board where you can annoy others with your cowardice? Like my elderly father is a full time Sharks cynic, and only I bear the brunt of it. It's annoying, but does it make him a coward?
3) if all this (including these boards) is entertainment, so what? The Holier Than Thou I'm right You're Wrong is annoying, and sometimes unjustified (I don't get the Walman thing), but with Demibust, Bustson, Michfraud, and my personal hate favorite Sucker Gauthier, why not have a little fun sipping on haterade?
I fully acknowledge that Hodge and many of us including myself can get carried away on here but 90% of the time, I see it for what it is: entertainment, and a smart, sharp elbowed poster playing a bit, and a pretty funny one.
Mack getting more veteran inspiration
Just wait until Grier signs him to a 1 year 10 million deal to be Asky's partner next yearGreat, another half dozen "final" games of Marc-Andre Fleury's career.
Wouldn't be the worst idea honestly.Just wait until Grier signs him to a 1 year 10 million deal to be Asky's partner next year![]()
I love this idea. I could see their personalities meshing really well.Just wait until Grier signs him to a 1 year 10 million deal to be Asky's partner next year![]()
Fair enough! Doesn't bother me as much but I get your POV.1) I'm never hoping for another team's prospect to succeed but this is ultimately a prospect forum and it's at least the least interesting take
2) it's just cowardly and designed move to not let yourself be more hurt emotionally. calling your shot on who's gonna be successful is more interesting and funner when you're right.
3) i guess there's a difference between sipping on haterade and drowning in haterade. beating a dead horse is boring and annoying.
Don't joke about that, I would love it. Even if it meant tolerating the Flower parade for another year, he'd be absolutely perfect.Just wait until Grier signs him to a 1 year 10 million deal to be Asky's partner next year![]()
Eklund had wrist surgery out for 3 months
I thought I could improve upon itI believe it was Demibust. For someone so fixated on calling everyone a bust you’d assume he’d have developed some sort of creative system for namecalling. He’s the bust of trolls
The guy is never gonna retire if people keep throwing money at him. It's like an alcoholic at a bar. MaF doesn't need a new team, he needs an intervention.Sheng brought up $7M for Fleury, as well. I'd totally be game for that. Perfect fit.

No. NO MORE TAKING DRAFT PICKS TO PLAY BAD PLAYERS! Jesus, at some point you can't just be a dumping ground. Grub is both bad and incredibly injury-prone. Askarov shouldn't be expected to play more than 40 games this season. Go get Dan Vladar on a two year/6 million dollar deal.Former cup winners who were top draft picks who love hockey, and can offer expertise to our most important prospect? Yeah, I’m here for that.
Other than Allen, I don’t think there’s a better fit in free agency. I’m tempted to get paid a 2nd grab Grubauer given how dire it is.

Didn’t he already say he’s done?I expect Vladar and Allen both will have suitors for potential starting roles (CBJ, Philly), Andersen signed, Gibson wants a contender and Merzlinkins has been considered a bad apple if I recall correctly. That leaves Grubauer, Fleury or a wildcard.
Didn’t he already say he’s done?
Fair. I do think the enticement of offering a 50/50 split or perhaps even more depending on Askarov's development would be enticing to someone looking for an opportunity to reclaim a starting roll somewhere down the line not to mention Grier's track record of being hospitable should help as well.Hence the absurd $7M offer I proposed, but I do think he’d be in it for the love of the game. The $7M is to show how much we’d value his experience, attitude, and expertise.
And again, if not Fleury, I might be turning to Grubauer. I’m not overly picky on a goalie, I trust our goalie department to do a solid job. Goalies are so inconsistent, I’m not convinced Grubauer would be any worse here than anyone else, and could be the next Vanecek (not optimistic of a Blackwood type revival).
Also, if I were any goalie trying to earn my next contract and I saw Ferraro, Desharnis, Thrun, Liljigren, Muk, and Vlasic id offer my talents to 31 other teams first.
As we’ll likely (not definitively but likely) be forced to the goalie trash heap, I’d prioritize attitude as well as additional assets gathered, if we can’t get a better option.
I really think after Allen and maybe Vladar, Fleury and Grubauer are my top two options, and one of those may not be viable.
