Well, that’s nice I guess. I do think that they want someone giant to help clear creases, etc. and obviously a replacement for someone we’re shortly going to trade.

I like a Cagnoni - Desharnais pairing — Desharnais can throw the puck and Cagnoni out of the zone at the same time.

Problem is at a certain point Grier can’t only be bringing in players that “can’t be worse than Burroughs and Benning”. He’s just shipping out junk and bringing in other junk.

We need one who is right handed and leans defensive, especially for next year and after the trade deadline since it’s fairly likely we trade one of Ferraro/Walman.

Desharnais could be a perfect partner for Dickinson on the third pair next season. I'm sure that's a big reason for the trade.

He's also a late bloomer who's only in his second full NHL season at 28yo. Maybe there's a future #4/#5 guy here. Probably not, but this is the kind of project the Sharks should be taking on.

I can only assume given the price we paid for him that he's no great shakes. At least he's big and right-handed, I guess.

To that, I say, then why do teams keep getting rid of him as soon as they can? A huge defensive RHD should be a valuable commodity, but he's been passed around for nothing multiples times in the last 8 months.
