Shouldn’t the goal be to build it up after drafting Bedard? Not tear it down?
You haven’t earned the right to make comments like this yet after John Ferguson JrShouldn’t the goal be to build it up after drafting Bedard? Not tear it down?
Dumba and Ceci could also be a part of it to get relatively close on the dollars. Dumba, Ceci, a near NHL ready prospect, but not a young NHL'er like Bourque or Stankoven, and a pick (a 2nd at best, IMO).
Helps Chicago clear Jones' contract, gives them cash and cap space in the short and long term, gives them a couple of young players to work with. For Dallas, it gives them one of the best top four defense cores in the NHL when healthy.
Heiskanen - Lindell
Harley -Jones
Bischel - Lyubushkin
Yeah they are going to have to retain to trade him and not sure what they could get depending on how much they retain. If Chicago keeps Jones, its not the worst thing. But sometimes its best to cut your losses and get something for him. He’s still a good player but he has a $9.5m AAV and a NMC so pickings will be slim. Id like Dallas to get him, but not overpay and not have to make tough decisions in the next offseason or two because of his cap hit.
Yeah mediocre vets like Martinez, Murphy. And the pathetic TJ Brodie. Jones is a top 3 DMan on any team in the league, top 2 on many, why give him away for late rd lottery pksVets are clogging up the Defense pipeline. Hawks have a plethora of dmen ready to step in. Its going to be a young and exciting defense in a few years once Rinzel, Korchinski, etc hit the show. I am looking forward to it.
Well. As an Oiler fan, if we meet you in the playoffs again, I hope you still have Ceci.Ceci was brought in for his playoff experience, and Lindell is a LHD. Also, Bishcel is still a rookie, so he might not play I'm the playoffs.
I'd assume if everyone is healthy and Jones end up in Dallas,
Heiskanen - Jones
Harley - Lyubushkin
Lindell - Ceci
Bischel - Smith
Or, Heiskanen plays on his offside and Bischel stays in
Harley - Heiskanen
Lindell - Jones
Bischel - Lyubushkin/Ceci
Either way, Jones would definitely improve Dallas's D core and I doubt Ceci gets traded
Why, you think they really want their 3rd pairing RD to be their highest paid D??I could see the Flames being all over this, but I doubt they fit the criteria of "contenders" that he's looking for.
Why, you think they really want their 3rd pairing RD to be their highest paid D??
The flames need another top 4 damn and a center upgrade to complete their team. You have to overpay to get that for free. Plus with cap inflation $9.5 million likely isn't an overpayment. The flames aren't going to be able to pick guys up for what they paid Weegar and Andersson. So where Jones sits in the pay scale isn't relevant. Even Andersson will be looking for a big raise in a year. Why, you think they really want their 3rd pairing RD to be their highest paid D??
Jones is like where OEL was when Van traded for him. Then had to buy him out.I think Chi will have to retain at leat 25% salary to get anyone to bite and they probably want send a lot. Maybe a b/c prosect+ 2nd round pick. Seth Jones hasn't looked elite since he came to CHITOWN. His last season where he looked solid on offense was 2022 and he was still top pairing on shut down defense. Is he on a terrible team yes, but he was also on a terrible team and looked better on CBJ. He is on the wrong side of 30 to sell the farm for a bloated contract.
He wouldn't be 3rd pairing, he'd play with Weegar who plays both sides. If the Flames were to add him, their D would likely be...Why, you think they really want their 3rd pairing RD to be their highest paid D??
There goes my idea of Montreal getting him in a trade involving Gallagher or Anderson... (and no retention either way)He won't waive his NMC for Canada.
Dallas, Florida, Tampa, and Vegas are probably the only places he'd go. Maybe Colorado if he feels like he can win there and they're the only place willing to take him.
Right, because the Oilers' 3rd pairing RD will be making the All-NHL squad surely.Well. As an Oiler fan, if we meet you in the playoffs again, I hope you still have Ceci.
I’m staring to think selling assets is the only thing Davidson knows how to doShouldn’t the goal be to build it up after drafting Bedard? Not tear it down?
Seth, "Kyle, I want to win a Cup."Why would a winning team want his awful contract
Hawks are a few years away from contending. Jones is 30 and wants to win. Problem is his cap hit.
If he were to terminate his deal. (No reason to believe he actually would, just hypothetical)
What would he be worth on the ufa market?
What contract would a jones caliber player get?
