I think Chi will have to retain at leat 25% salary to get anyone to bite and they probably want send a lot. Maybe a b/c prosect+ 2nd round pick. Seth Jones hasn't looked elite since he came to CHITOWN. His last season where he looked solid on offense was 2022 and he was still top pairing on shut down defense. Is he on a terrible team yes, but he was also on a terrible team and looked better on CBJ. He is on the wrong side of 30 to sell the farm for a bloated contract.

Dumba and Ceci could also be a part of it to get relatively close on the dollars. Dumba, Ceci, a near NHL ready prospect, but not a young NHL'er like Bourque or Stankoven, and a pick (a 2nd at best, IMO).

Helps Chicago clear Jones' contract, gives them cash and cap space in the short and long term, gives them a couple of young players to work with. For Dallas, it gives them one of the best top four defense cores in the NHL when healthy.

Heiskanen - Lindell
Harley -Jones
Bischel - Lyubushkin

Ceci was brought in for his playoff experience, and Lindell is a LHD. Also, Bishcel is still a rookie, so he might not play I'm the playoffs.

I'd assume if everyone is healthy and Jones end up in Dallas,

Heiskanen - Jones
Harley - Lyubushkin
Lindell - Ceci
Bischel - Smith

Or, Heiskanen plays on his offside and Bischel stays in

Harley - Heiskanen
Lindell - Jones
Bischel - Lyubushkin/Ceci

Either way, Jones would definitely improve Dallas's D core and I doubt Ceci gets traded

If Chicago keeps Jones, its not the worst thing. But sometimes its best to cut your losses and get something for him. He’s still a good player but he has a $9.5m AAV and a NMC so pickings will be slim. Id like Dallas to get him, but not overpay and not have to make tough decisions in the next offseason or two because of his cap hit.

Yeah they are going to have to retain to trade him and not sure what they could get depending on how much they retain.

Vets are clogging up the Defense pipeline. Hawks have a plethora of dmen ready to step in. Its going to be a young and exciting defense in a few years once Rinzel, Korchinski, etc hit the show. I am looking forward to it.
Yeah mediocre vets like Martinez, Murphy. And the pathetic TJ Brodie. Jones is a top 3 DMan on any team in the league, top 2 on many, why give him away for late rd lottery pks

Well. As an Oiler fan, if we meet you in the playoffs again, I hope you still have Ceci.
