Seth Jarvis haunts me.

Canes fans seem quite sour and are making all types of excuses for why Jarvis couldn’t stand up to the rigors of the physicality of playoff hockey. Jarvis got ragdolled multiple times in the playoffs. Talented player, but clearly not ready for playoff hockey from a physical standpoint. Don’t start blaming the teams you faced for your team’s decision to put this kid who was physically overmatched in there against the best in the world. It’s pretty irresponsible.

If you do that, he’s fair game to be hit, so don’t come complaining that Trouba knocked him out with a legal hit. While I don’t think any hits where a player suffers an injury are clean in this game, Jarvis’ lack of NHL physicality contributed to how easily Trouba went right through him. I think if that’s against Svechnikov then there’s no way he makes anywhere near the same type of impact. A stronger player withstands that hit a lot easier.

Eh, I dont think he will ever lose sleep for throwing big clean hits to be honest.
I agree. I don’t think he’ll lose sleep for big clean hits absolutely.

But that’s not what I was talking about.

Rangers fans NOW embracing the “he’s just bigger than the other guy” defense is a truly stunning Uno reverse card from their stance just a year ago
It’s hilariously ironic. I don’t think of a more ironic moment in recent hockey history tbh.

Oh so Trouba is just so much bigger and stronger than his opponent that it just couldn’t be helped…. I mean, what choice does he have but to go for the headshot, he’s just so big and strong!!

Literally exactly the meme defense that Caps fans give for Tom Wilson repeatedly scrambling peoples’ brains. Guess NYR fans don’t mind much when it’s their guy who’s scrambling brains out there.

Having a completely normal one lol. Suffering from SDE.

Jarvis just turned 20 years old. He was fine avoiding hits his Rookie year. He caught a big hit in his second Playoff series by one of the biggest hitters in the league. Welcome to the NHL. Jarvis will learn and adapt.

Svechnikov's first Playoff run he got his face caved by Ovechkin and missed many games. Svechnikov's second Playoff run ended when he sustained a knee injury battling with Chara in front of the net. You couldn't have picked a better display of ignorance. I don't think it uncommon for young players to underestimate Playoff intensity.

Nobody's sour, just wondering what's the point of doing victory laps over a kid getting a concussion.
Pretty OT but classless by the NHL, Phaneuf hit Sauer really hard and his helmet popped off and his head hit the boards, ending his career.

NHL Network showed that hit in the “hits of the year” highlights.

Ya better phone up Kreider, bud, because I don't think he'll be able to stand up to the intensity of playoff hockey either. I mean, he got decked by Carey Price!

If Tom Wilson ruined the Rangers, I guess it all ended up well for the Rangers.

You are trying to use the regular season to claim he was ready for the physicality of the playoffs. I would accuse you of ignorance, but you’re a fan of a team that makes the playoffs every year. You should know better. The playoffs is a completely different level of physicality. If you are out of place physically, it shows up in the playoffs.

You realize Price is listed at 6’3 217? Besides, that play you linked there happened in a different part of the zone than the one where Jarvis got knocked down by a goalie. And my main point was about the constant times he’s been ragdolled. You are choosing to focus on one instance. What about Trouba going right through him? There were multiple instances throughout where the guy just didn’t look up to the physicality of the NHL playoffs

If you accuse someone of that when they clearly weren’t doing that, you probably are sour.

This thread had discussion about the Trouba hit. I’m merely pointing out that Trouba destroyed someone who isn’t ready to take hits from the biggest hitters in the league. The hit was legal. If you want to go complaining that the player got injured, which is never good, you can’t put that on Trouba. Put that on your team and the player for putting someone who wasn’t able to withstand the physicality of playoff hockey against the best in the world out there.

I don't have an issue with the hit. As I said earlier, it's obvious that Jarvis left himself open to it in order to get the puck to the net at a critical moment. Those are the chances a player takes in a game 7 if he's not a coward. I don't expect Trouba to let him off the hook for that, because Trouba's also in a game 7. That's what the competition is about.

But I know one thing -- we don't see a flood of people coming in here to talk trash if Jarvis pops back up off the ice and finishes the game. The way this thread bumped starting at post #92 was absolutely about the glee of seeing him crawl off the ice injured.

Some of my fellow Ranger fans have some really bad takes in this thread.

Jarvis is a good player, he looked NHL ready to me, he was playing well.

The Trouba hit was clean by the current rule book, all his hits these playoffs have been.

I hope Jarvis is okay.

I don’t think it’s glee, it’s confirmation that he’s not yet up to the physicality of playoff hockey. I don’t take glee in any injuries. I wasn’t happy when Raanta hurt his groin. It’s not glee for me. I think over 7 games I progressively started seeing more and more that Jarvis wasn’t ready for the physicality of the playoffs. I gained a lot of respect for his ability to play hockey. I didn’t realize how good he was already, but that doesn’t mean there also wasn’t a major area of struggle that manifested itself with that Trouba hit.

Trouba should be getting increasingly longer suspensions every time he concusses a player with the predatory hits he has shown tendency for.

This is the problem. You are blaming Trouba for the injury of a player who it was irresponsible for the player’s team to put on the ice. That’s cannot be on Trouba. This probably isn’t even an injury if it’s not someone whose 5’10 150.

This thread was a lot more interesting when it was about how lucky it was for the Canes to be able to draft this kid at 13. A dynamic player. Looked dangerous every time he had the puck.

Trouba is certainly a throwback. It makes sense that younger fans of different teams have it out for him. Ranger fans needs to admit that he plays on the edge as well. He’s no Tom Wilson, but the guy certainly wants to make sure his hits are felt.

Johnny Gaudreau is 5'9" 150. Using that logic it's irresponsible for the Flames not to sit him in the playoffs until he gets bigger.

I just dont get why the NHL lets Trouba get away with it. He is obviously a repeat offender.

Edit. And yes. I appreciate your funny joke.

It’s so funny how he got less and less haunting throughout this thread to the point where he’s the haunted
