He didn't make the team, they didn't give up on him too early, they just had better players who played better this preseason and passed him. I believe it was a hard decision for them to make but when he got beat out by four or five other players for the spots on the team what else are they going to do? According to rumors they tried to make a trade at the end of last season to get him somewhere that he would be able to have a better chance at making an impact but there was no deal to be had. That is not giving up on someone.

Yah, not following that line of thinking at all. Sounds like someone that's still bitter over the TS trade. Whatever. The kid has had 5 seasons to make the team. He hasn't. Other prospects have since passed him on the depth chart. Apparently our coaches and others who make these decisions and have been watching him and developing him for the past 5 seasons don't know what they're talking about according to the "didn't give him enough time" crowd.

He has 34 NHL games under his belt... that's like the definition of giving up on a guy too early.

I'm not saying he will become something, just that the sample size is way too small to write him off.

If you watched him play, you'd realize that they didn't give up on him too early.

I didn't mind Griffith but will not be sad seeing him go somewhere else.

He is what he is a career 3rd or 4th at best, nothing to get excited about here.

Waiver pick ups are just that, another chance for a mediocre player.

Yep. I love seeing Boston fans using this pick up as a way to somehow discredit the quality of Toronto's prospect pool

It's a waiver pick up. A free player. The organization can't lose, and probably won't win.

I'm not saying I agree with the other guy but one could argue that if the Leafs have 20 prospects better than Griffith then they should be playing one of those players over him. But I understand that they probably think it's better to have a guy with some NHL games under his belt on the 3rd line instead of even more rookies.

Sure I get that argument, if you don't know anything about the NHL. :)

It's proof that Toronto's management thinks he's better than the guys you've got.

I agree. I think it's a fine move for both teams. Boston lost an AHL player (for them) and Toronto gained a potential starter in the NHL. I doubt you'll see Griffith on the team next year unless he really improves but I doubt any Toronto fans are worried about that.

3 pages for a 23 yr old waiver claim??? :shakehead

Thanks for your contribution. I didn't think of it that way. Very informative.

I dont think its news to anyone that some of the NHL ready players in your org are better then some of the NHL ready players on the worst team in the NHL.

Now are you comparing prospects to players? Cause if im not mistaken we didnt trade you any of our prospects for Griffith.

Kid cant skatein todays NHL...if he can work on that and become even average..he might be able to carve out a decent NHL career.

Kid can score...just needs to work on getting the speed to get into those scoring areas in the chel.
