Quick look at who is available in the summer, slim pickings in a department that always has too much demand compared to the supply. Hill and Vejmelka the cream of the crop.

The problem is we’d have no idea how another goalie would play in our system. Vejmelka always kills us, because we take a bunch of shots and he’s a goalie that THRIVES on being under fire. It’s starting to look like Kotchetkov is the same way.

But our system doesn’t give up a lot of shots. It doesn’t keep a goalie busy. It allows 20-25 shots a game, but 10-15 of those shots are going to be high danger and they’re going to come after you’ve spent the last 3 minutes twiddling your thumb as the offensive zone pressure kept the play in the other zone.

So what we need is a goalie that’s calm in net, that plays the fundamentals well, and one that can maintain focus even when they’re not busy. Andersen is actually a perfect fit for the system, but he’s made of glass. Kotchetkov isn’t a good fit stylistically, but he’s got the talent to win us games.

Mr Glass shattered, apparently

That's what I figured and very happy to hear confirmed that is not a blood issue.

Also very encouraging is that it is not a psychological issue.

Since a LBI & a possible surgical solution, knee or hip issue?

edit: if surgery, then you worry whether it's season ending....perhaps, that's why they are hesitating. Plus, Canes would need a 3rd NHL possible goalie in the system since Perets is a no-go.

What's Jack LaFontaine up to?

Screw that; given the problems we've had with goalie health, what's Jack LaLanne up to?
