Sonny Milano and Oliver Bjorkstrand both starting Sunday. I'm very excited to see this! Exactly the kind of creativity and unpredictability we've been lacking lately.

It's a measure how bad the forwards have been that Milano is seeing time in the playoffs. Desperation move. I think Torts is being unwise messing with that third defensive pairing as he has, but can't blame him for trying something different with the forwards.

I hate the Capitals but you watch their power play and it always feels like you are a second away from disaster. They get so much movement and guys shooting from different layers. You don't see them just jacking the puck around the wall and passing fruitlessly along the blue line like the Jackets. Andersen, unlike Fleury, has had to make a bunch of quality saves.

Guys on our PP don't even look at the net half of the time they catch a pass. They just look at the next player to pass it to. No urgency, no shots = no goals.

I also hate how we always peel back and waste the clock on our own PP.

There is literally nothing good about our PP. It's abysmal and embarrassing.

I'm telling you, we need to put Jones and Werenski both on the ice at the same time.

If just Werenski is out there they automatically read that were gonna run our PP through him most likely from the left side. And vice versa for Jones on the right. But if they're both out there and flip sides for the one timer, than Pitt has to respect both of them being able to rip one from the point or quickly moving the puck down low to the forward. And both of them can rotate down low if they skate the puck in on the rush and get a cycle going. While still making the D respect the point because the other is still up there.

Our PP has been so predictable its cringe worthy.

We have to admire your dedication to your agenda. Now back to the series and not comparing our roster to other teams rosters.

I'll be curious to see if the team can go a game without giving away goals.

If Torts forms a line of Milano - Gagner - Bjorkstrand, it will be the most productive line on the ice Sunday night. But only IF the defense can win the puck and get it to them.

4 goals for. Great.

7 goals against...

Not jabbing at you, something must change. CBJ has played 2 rock solid first periods, and cumulatively is 0-1 on the scoreboard. Two games of that may just be puck luck (ask Chicago), but this has been the case for a month. They are snakebitten, mostly by themselves, and cannot finish. One finish might not be enough, but 2 snipes in the first 30 minutes might break the dam.

Or I am still drinking the Kool-ade.

With Calvert suspended, who would you put in his place? Korpikoski? I think he's the only healthy F on the roster. I'd prefer Milano too. Not out of desperation - what other choice is there?

What I saw with the Caps PP - and Leafs, too - was that they were consistently squeezing in their perimeter as play developed, positioning their shooters closer to net. We spend more of our PP time wider and deeper (at the point), shrinking that perimeter less during the 2:00.

Thought I saw they were putting him on the first line. May have misread it.

We would need to be able to keep the puck in and move it before we can even start thinking about advanced tactics.

I agree and it's been that way for a few months now. They pass it around the top and perimeter or pass it down to the wall and waste more time trying to dig it out down there. If they get off a shot it's often a bomb from blue line that has to go through at least one defender and ends up getting blocked. It feels like they don't know what to do and then someone eventually just decides they need to take a shot. The reason I mentioned the Caps is that I think Columbus needs to get more body movement and purposeful passing to set up better shots. This team doesn't have a Crosby but they do have some offensive talent, too much to be struggling on the PP like this.

Craptastic way to end a great season, overall. Bob has been mediocre. He can't track pucks below the goal line at all and the penguins are zeroing in on it. I hope the younger players take something away from these games, at least.

Whatever the question was, Sonny Milano is not the answer. He only got 6:47 of ice time in a 70+ minute game. The time he was out there, he was very pedestrian.

In the short-term, I hope CBJ win game 4 for the fans. The series is realistically over so just give the home people something to cheer about for a night.

In the long-term, the biggest takeaway from this series has been Bob. Scoring has been an issue, and we all knew it would be (i think). But goaltending was not supposed to be a question mark. I absolutely love Bob, and think he is one of the world's best when he's on. However, at some point we have to take a look at the fact that in the playoffs he just hasn't been very good. It's unreal. He has a career regular season SV% of .920 & GAA of 2.45 and playoff career sv% of .891. & GAA of 3.43.

I don't know what the answer is and I don't think trading him this offseason makes much sense, but I have to think it's alarming for the organization. If we lose Korpisalo in the draft we have to take a serious look at this organization's depth between the pipes moving forward.

I don't blame Bob for a large portion of what has gone in. This series has been Murphy's law to a tee what can go wrong will go wrong. Getting no puck luck, the refs are basically turning a blind eye to everything happening to us, injuries, 3 goals from behind Bob, Dubi hiting MAF mask in ot... It just hasn't been meant to be and we can still win in not giving up but I feel like our players and Torts here we are doing so.much right and playing so well it's just not reflecting in the score.

Bob has made some rediculous saves This series while also letting in some softies but the good outweighs the bad. Only maybe one of those goals tonight would I call weak and should have been saved the rest were either flukey or just a great shot that he had no chance. He ****ed up last game with the first goal but again the others were 2 on 1s or weird angle quick shots that he had no shot at. The penguins have just made a lot of perfect shots on their grade A chances and ours have been just slightly off.

I've gained more respect for this team as the playoffs continue and I didn't think it was possible. Just seeing the heart and reactions from guys like Dubi, Fligs, Savy, and even Matty from that cross check which I have went from embarrassed that our team did that to proud. The way the mains talk about the CBJ especially considering their teams and the way that because we beat the leafs the final game of the year and a D got hurt by Foligno on a clean hit that whole fanbase is just smearing the team everywhere they can... then if we get rough and it proves a point for our boys on the ice so be it.

And the way Werenski went out there and tries his best to play with his eye nearly swollen shut and one of the guys I forget who said he couldn't see out of that eye. More respect for him then any player in the league right now. And what the **** was up with the officials letting a guy lay on the ice bleeding and barely moving? When Calvert got hit it was an immediate whistle and Foligno said every time his been on the other side of that he expects a whistle because it makes him sick to think what could happen if they dont get help. I can respect the league, the refs, or pens fans for defending that. Disgusting. Pens fans saying same thing for Bonino are full of ****. He was hit by the ear/cheek/jaw which is still bad but he was never dropped and immediately ran fornhis bench and the cut that happened wasn't bleeding on the ice. Werenski clearly was hit square in the face with a puck and instantly dropped and didn't move and was bleeding badly. People saying he should have got up and moved have no idea the pain he was in or state of mind he might have also had his bell rang and not known what happened. Also he probably thought with all the blood it would be stopped because he just took a ****ing puck to the face. And then they say look he gets up and skates away so it wasn't that serious. The kid is bleeding and might not even be able to see out of that eye at the moment and he realizes they aren't blowing the whisle and no one is helping me I need help and just instinctively tried to get to help.

Basically I'm not going near other fans here except for trade boards because it took.this series to see how bad it really is out there.

I typically look for the young players in a game (to evaluate their play), and I only noticed him for 1-2 shifts. I'm honestly surprised that he had over 6 minutes of ice-time. Noticed he was stapled to the bench in the 2nd period. Seen a video on NBC sports where Dubi, Foligno, Hartnell are joking around with Zach Werenski after he came out.. And, Milano is there with a blank/dead/solemn stare. Kind of felt for him a little bit to be benched for the rest of the game in the 2nd period (been there many times in my intramural sports career lol) but this is the playoffs.

Gabriel Carlsson had about 17 minutes of ice time in this game. Curious what our blue line looks like next season.

If you look carefully, you'll note that such fans are actually the exception, rather than the rule. It's hard to keep in mind because of just how appalling the sentiments they're expressing are, but it's really just a handful of individuals. (I think I started and deleted unposted about five "annoyed with Leafs fans" posts last night over what turned out to just be two really persistent jerks, myself.)

Quite a few exceptions in the Burgh it seems...

Would love to see a game 4 win, but right now, gotta shake my head at how well the Penguins are playing.

I fee like Bob has to stand on his head for us to get a win and he's not.

Bob needs to be a league-average goaltender and we'd have a win, but he's not.
