Seravalli: Seravalli/Likely BS: Kirill Marchenko's name is popping up

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Congrats to our latest Sportsbook winners - GOLD MEDAL kihei, SILVER MEDAL fish7 and BRONZE MEDAL Sammy Kat - new tournament begins today 6/15
I bring this up on our board all the time. The CBJ in ineptitude for 25 years is unrivaled. The ownership and the fans are the only ones to feel that or even care.

Our GM is coming up on 2 years. Most of our core is young(the elder statesmen is 28 year old Werenski).

It's not an invalid point, it's just irrelevant to the current squad.

@Viqsi I like what you have to say and respect your thoughts.

Bullshit rumor aside.

IF Marchenko was available....what would the Jackets be looking for?

Futures? Im guessing no.

Roster players? makes more sense from my eyes.

What position is a position of need?
Our biggest position of need right now is a top 6 forward.

Marchenko is a top 6 forward. This rumor makes no sense.

Lets give up our only right handed scorer.

Like I posted in our subthread.

We are looking for a top 6 forward

GMs are countering wanting Marchenko

We say no deal and move on.

Seravalli probably hears two or three of these conversation that include Marchenko

"I GUESS CBJ WANTS TO GET RID OF MARCHENKO LOOK AT ME AND HOW SMART I AM"

The closest thing I can think of to something that's similarly batshit insane on its face would be if he started talking about a rumor that, say, Minnesota was looking at selling off Eriksson Ek.

(Wild fans, if this comes up in his next show, I offer my sincere apologies in advance.)

25 years old, supremely talented, 74 points and 67 points in his last two seasons on an anemic offensive team, only a 3.8 million cap hit next year. Of course the team averaging one playoff series win for every 13 years and who have only made the playoffs 6 times in 26 years of existing want to trade him.

Seriously, the Blue Jackets don't cop enough shit for their futility. While other 90's expansion teams like Tampa, Florida, Ottawa, San Jose, Nashville all managed sustained periods ranging from good and relevant to completely dominant, the Jackets have never been relevant for even 1 minute of their time in the league.

Werenski is 28. Time to add to the talented players you have, no trade them away. Would be truly head scratching to get rid of Marchenko.
IDK, sweeping the president's trophy winners seems like more than a minute of relevancy

Is there any chance that Marchenko asked out?
In this crazy world, nothing is truly impossible.

But no. I'd sooner expect McDavid to abruptly change his mind about Babcock and force a trade to Atlanta shortly after the NHL announces expansion leading up to the draft.

Considering both Waddell and Marchenko are talking about his future in Columbus in separate interviews in different continents, and Seravalli makes up stuff, gee, I wonder!
Seravalli is truly one of the seemliest guys in hockey media while being almost worthless. I cannot stand him and I doubt this guy is really on the move.

From an interview in Russia

Ivan Provorov signed a long-term contract with Columbus. Previously, high-profile players tended to leave Ohio as quickly as possible. Does Provorov's arrival signal positive changes in the city and the organization?

— Who said we have a bad organization? We have a top-notch organization!

— At the same time, stars like Sergei Bobrovsky and Artemi Panarin left Columbus as soon as they became free agents.

"It's their choice, but that's not all the players. I have fantastic feelings for Columbus.”

Doubt it.

The obvious deal if Marchenko is being moved is around Jason Robertson imo.
It's very hard to come with a deal that makes sense where the cap hits going in both directions are even a few million dollars apart. The deals that make more sense (in theory) have Columbus taking on $8m, $9m, $10m in cap. Columbus would have to be okay doing that, otherwise IDK if there's a deal both sides would agree to. Is upgrading a 1st line winger to a better 1st line winger worth adding $9 million in cap?

It's also trading out a right handed winger for a lefty, which is the opposite of ideal for Columbus.
