GDT: Sens Vs Sabres, 7:00 TV: TSN5 Radio: TSN 1200 AM

Dean Evason is not an elite coach! The man has never won anything  He lost in the 1st round 3 season in a row and then the Wild fired him last season after starting the season 5-10-4. Yeah is an elite coach alright!

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: come on the man has an 8-15 record in the playoffs and while with Minnesota he never got past the 1st round!!! What the hell are you talking about getting the most out of his players???
Minnesota just tuned him out. His style is like that, at some point the players are going to tire of him. The coach they've replaced him with has never made it out of the first round either in 8-9 years of NHL coaching.

The fact that they've rebounded so well this quickly is a testament to how good a coach Dean Evason is. Their team play and structure is excellent, they didn't just learn how to do it this fast under Hynes.

This Minnesota team has no right being this competitive, they've been handcuffed for years by $15M in dead cap with the Suter and Parise contracts. Imagine having a record of 134-63-23 while essentially having a team spending to the cap floor. The guy didn't even inherit any high end cheap ELC talent to help offset that penalty.

The moment Evason became available, I desperately wanted him as our coach. It's become a meme here in HF Ottawa, but we missed the boat.

Team scoring has completely dried up. That isn't on the goalies.

We have multiple problems at the moment and that is why things seem so desperate.

Scoring 5 on 5 has been an issue since November. With the specialty teams laying an egg, we have nothing to hang our hat on.
All fair points, however

- Sens power-play is ranked 8th overall/ ranks 6th overall in power-play goals scored ...shows the teams isn't impotent when it comes to scoring....when a team is on a power-play playing defence /goaltending take a back seat
- despite getting subpar goal-tending for many games the Sens GA is ranked 10th lowest overall, however the penalty-kill is ranked 24th (worst) overall (goalies are often the teams best PKillers)
- despite having a power-play in the top10 the Sens GF ranks 23rd lowest overall...makes you wonder if the reason behind it has something to do with the team not playing loose / with any confidence since they cant trust the goalie

problem for Green is the team is playing kinda well outside of not scoring, but he can’t DJ Smith this thing for the rest of the season and play the moral victories - one more bounce, one more whistle and just a bit healthier card all season because Sens fans won’t digest that they will vomit that up.

We have almost no scoring from dmen 9 goals all year is at the bottom of league in team dmen scoring .

Below usual goal scoring by players this year.
These 3 are snake bitten.

Stutzle 12 goals ( 2 goals last 17 games)
Pinto 6 goals on pace to get 25 points.
Perron 0 goals only 9 games played**

It is just a slump. 3-4 happen to every year and to every team.

the next 2-3 games will be key. I fully expect a bounce back. I can see a 2-1, 1-1-1 scenario and all will be well.

The Sens have now gone through 3 such slumps (and 2 hot streaks). They are pretty much finished with them. I can see the remaining 41 games being far more balanced and results being a consistent 4 Points for every 3 games played.

Take a real close look at NHL trends. Almost inevitably a pattern of; slump, hot streak and extended flat period circulate for every team, throughout the season. And in 3-4 cycles of 15-20 games.

They are not playing at .666% for the rest of the season
Only 5 teams have done that this season so far VGK, WAS,WIN,LA,MINN
We are 17th in the league not top 3

Alex... a consistent 4 p for every 3 games, does not mean no exception. There will be the odd 3 in 3, or maybe 2 in 3.

What I don't see is 0 for 3.

I can see the next 41 games, thus 13.7 sets of 3 to be
8 sets at 4 p
3 sets at 3 p
2.7 sets at 2 p

and so 46-47 points. Or about 0.56-0.58 win ratio. That is more than possible. At present 15 teams are doing this good or better.

And that will get them to 87-88 points and comfortably in.

You have to score to win but 2 goals on 5 shots is not the best way to motivate your team to play lose and score goals.

Thanks for tuning down by A LOT
You said consistent .666 play
Now it's .570
First, according to you, they are finished with slumps and streaks (I don't know how you know that but anyway...)
Now they get in COMFORTABLY with 87 points
I think the right word is barely

Relying on other teams' continued suckage has been a losing strategy every season of hockey I've ever seen.

These are the results that you will get season after season when you don't have any high end talent but half the roster is paid like superstars.

This Team is very loyal to its trend that is going on for past 3-4 years now

Get to the bottom of the league

Stay there or win a few games and get close to a wildcard spot

Start to losing again and end up in bottom 5

Go on a good stretch to finish the season just to get out of the basement

This. We even suck at sucking lol
