What geniuses came up with a travel plan to have the sens yo-yo between pacific and mountain time zones for 4 games? Not surprised they didn’t have much in the tank playing less than 24 hours earlier in pacific time zone. Even with chartered air, that’s gotta be tiring especially with 4th game this week

Rest up boys. You deserve it
And B2B to boot. Looked up TML schedule and lo and behold. They play Calgary, Edmonton then go to Van/Seattle, not back and forth like the Sens, also no b2b. At least the next 4 games (Wpg, Wild, SLB, Dallas) are in the same time zone.

Not very fair, on pace for 30 goals and 50 pts with a 200 ft game after missing a lot of hockey and severe injuries.
I agree, it's not very fair to suggest he's playing like a $4 million center. I also agree with OP's underlying suggestion that he is not playing like a $7.95 million center.

That contract puts him in at #30 on the AAV salary list for centers - at his current pace he will finish around 60th in production. That puts him in a group that includes Chytil (2nd yr of 4 @ $4.44M) and Cozens (2nd yr of 7 @ $7.1M).

I think many of us would be happier if Josh was making less, but he benefitted from Dorion's rush to sign guys long-term when they showed any talent (and he had! 2021-22 was a good year for Josh). Had he not suffered the shoulder injury we might indeed be raving at what a deal $7.95M per year was, but alas, here we are.

I'm hopeful he continues to regain his form and either gets dealt in the off season (to help make room for Rantannen or Marner), or comes back better again next season (but on LW...).

I wonder if the Senators are compensated for this?
Lol, now that would have been a previous regime type of move!

I was talking exclusively during this win streak/last 7 games.

I am a big Norris fan, and believe he has a much higher gear than what we've seen. I expect him to be better than what he has recently shown, though.

F*** EDM, they're a very beatable team and on a non-back to back night and we have our guns firing, we're beating them
Coming in peace!

Oilers were also on game #2 of back to back!

Sens are my #2 team. I’ve been hoping for you guys to get some traction. There is a team to build on in Ottawa.

We were on 3rd in 4
Had to travel
Had minimal rest hours before back to back compared to EDM
Lost our starter (5th in save%, 7th in GAA and 2nd in SO in the NHL) and had to put in a guy with 3 NHL games experience that was in the net 20 hours before
Missing our top pair RD
Travis Hamonik
Maybe not very beatable but beatable

My friend, I say this with full transparency and love because I'm a salty SoB but I hope the Oil never win a game as long as McDrai as on the roster because I'm super jealous

Y’all were at home and played an afternoon game the day before. I’m so sick of losing to the oilers, still bitter at losing 9 straight in that Covid year

Anyways happy holidays!

Norris has been playing like a 4 million dollar center.

Those would be terrific gets. I was big on Rutta 2 years ago.
Weeellll that’s kinda what he is. He was never an 8 mil guy. 4 is cheap obviously.

50 point centers should make 8 million.

Remember the games in Sweden where both of our games were home games and both of the Leafs games were away games? Senators are not prioritized, it’s silly.

Top 6 hasn't been doing much lately, especially 5v5. They all need to be better IMO. Cousins/Pinto have been impressive during this win streak.

I maintain that it is conscious bias that HR departments should be more concerned about! 😆

Oh yeah I agree he's overpaid now although it's not entirely his fault, it's almost a miracle that he is playing and even contributing. I had him at 5.5 AAV worth the other day

I dislike Dorion for a million moves but not so much for Norris contract, he was on his way to become a 40 goals 2-way center before his injuries, that's extremely valuable.

There's a chance he continues to regain form, a bit like Batherson did as he didn't look nearly as good the season after coming back from injury

Even if he's overpaid, there's a shortage of good two-way top-6 centers so I think some teams would like to acquire him. Don't think he'll ever play on the wing, until later in his career maybe. Some guys are just made to be Centers and Josh is one of them.

Also, make room for Rantanen or Marner? Damn I wish but I can't see this as more than a pipe dream.

I guess you meant "shouldn't"

Maybe not very beatable but beatable

All of these reasons/excuses are regular NHL stuff except one. It rhymes with Gin Tonic and that's a hard one to cope with. No team can beat such a handicap

And that was all agreed upon and the Senators were compensated for the loss of an additional home game. So very non-Andlauer-ish.
Also, make room for Rantanen or Marner? Damn I wish but I can't see this as more than a pipe dream.
Agreed on all your points but this one - less of a pipe dream and more of a booze-fueled hallucination that I'm trying to manifest! 🤣
