A winger and a defenseman around the same caliber or better?

It wouldn't be a futures trade. it would be a shakeup trade.
That's the thing, their best players that are signed beyond this year are on their ELC, so it basically has to be a deal like Couture (A cap dump) a A+ prospect like Dickinson, and another first rounder type of trade. Tkachuk isn't worth Dickinson and possible a top 10 first, but Chabot still has marginal postiive value versus Couture, so it sways the side that way.

Honestly what do you do w this team after this many years of the same core and still the same outcome? In my opinion more than 1 core player has to go. Culture needs to be changed.

Would sub Barzal for Dobson if that is preferred. Also open to a smaller shakeup deal involving Pelech for Batherson/Pinto/Norris although it’s occurring to me that you guys are probably set on the left side
I would actually love Barzal on the Sens, have no idea how he's never hit 100 points. Too skilled, smart and fast not to produce.

If the Sens were trading for just Barzal, what do you think that would look like?

Also out of curiosity how come he hasn't surpassed his rookie numbers offensively? I dont follow NYI but I thought he'd be a top 10 player in the league in his prime after his rookie year

would love batherson in nj. i'd be willing to part with nemec or casey on defense.
Funny enough I actually proposed in June Batherson for your 2024 1st (10OA). Thought that would've been pretty fair

RHD are more of a need for the Sens ngl, but at the same time trading Pinto means our C depth gets worse, so it's a paradox.

Nylander for Tkachuk.

Who says no?
If I'm the leafs I'm saying no.

You know Willy can drive a line himself (Tkachuk sure as hell hasn't shown that). He's been the most consistent core 4 member in the playoffs. You know he likes it in Toronto and doesn't want to leave. Tkachuk seems like the kinda guy to want to bolt to the states to be with his brother.

Really a no brainer from me.

What about Rasmus Andersson with retention for Shane Pinto?

Ottawa would need to find a cheap forward to replace Pinto as well, but that should be pretty easy.

there’s a few reasons. #1 was that his first season was his only season with Tavares on the team, and teams were focused on stopping him, not Barzal. Then Tavares leaves and we get Barry Trotz who drastically changed the system and made a huge focus on turning Barzal into a 200 foot player. He also never really had a bonafied first line player on his line until last year with Horvat. I agree that he hits 100 in the right situation.

Anyway a Barzal trade would need to involve Tkachuk or Stutzle, and we add.

I know every fan is trying to pry Tkachuk out with a less than value package, but if I’m Fitzgerald, I would try and see if something could get done around a Meier for Tkachuk swap.

Meier does have an NMC so it might be all moot, but would love to have Brady on the Devils. Meier hasn’t quite fit in well to date either.

So another less than value package

I don't think they're all that dissimilar and we'd probably have to add quite a bit because of Timo's struggles. Rather just ride things out with Timo and hope he can get back to the level he was at the last 30 games of last year. Timo's finally been upping his shot rate recently. 24 shots over the past 5 games. That's what you want from him just hasn't really been going in. I'd much rather be looking at Batherson if he's available or Giroux as a rental come deadline time if the Sens still aren't competitive than making what could just be a pretty lateral move in Timo for Tkachuk.

What would you like in a Barzal/Tkachuk deal?

Would Wild fans swap Boldy for Tkachuk one on one?

Not really the discussion for here, but frankly, I don’t see Meier as a great fit for Hischier or Hughes.

Brady is more of the garbage goal, grind it out in the corner kind of guy, but with an added element of skill.

Nylander for Tkachuk.

Who says no?

Nylander’s NMC before you even start talking about adds on either side to make it even.

And that’s really a huge difficulty here for a hockey trade. They are always hard. And then you add to the fact that almost everyone with a NTC has Ottawa on their list you start getting locked into younger guys that don’t have trade protection, yet. And no one is going to trade Ottawa a younger guy for an older guy unless the younger guy hasn’t hit potential, yet. Which isn’t going to help Ottawa get better today.

I think it would only work as a “mix-up” trade if the Devils and Senators wanted to switch up the complexion of their teams for that reason.

I don’t think the Devils are in that position right now though. If they started off the year poorly I could see both teams swapping Meier/Tkachuk, another roster player, and picks to balance out the difference in value.

It’ll be hard for them to make up that value unless they give up some prized prospects.

Couture’s 3 team trade list ain’t gonna have Ottawa on it.

Timo ain’t waiving to go from a contender in Jersey to a cancer culture Ottawa team.
