If they just put as much effort into 65% of their games, as they do when they play the Leafs, they'd be fine.

But they seem to blow their load and go on a losing streak

That's steep and could Jersey afford to put another 8+ mil forward on their roster?

They likely have to find a way to move off of Palat.
It would definitely start with Palat and likely Hamilton as well (plug in Casey for his minutes).

I could see the argument either way that it doesn’t make sense to pour more big money on a top six forward, but seeing Palat on Hughes’ line right now is painful.

I'd do palat (taking a bad contract), mercer, nemec, and a first for Tkachuk.

Palat has a NMC. Even after this year it only downgrades to a 10 team trade list. This wouldn’t be something that could be done in season.

Cotter was good in his (limited) time up with Jack-Bratt. I’ve long thought the idea you need to get a star to play with Jack is stupid because you already have Bratt and he and Bratt are insane together. Like sure it’d be nice to have another star but if anything I’d want the other star with Nico because Timo is again underwhelming. Jack-Bratt just need a competent 3rd wheel. They consistently dominate regardless of their 3rd wheel. Even with Palat looking like he's already 6 feet under this year they've managed to be great. A rotating cast of cheap 3rd wheels is how I'd handle them. They don’t need a star.

Trading Greig for a more skilled player or a defensive upgrade might be something, I’ve watched a decent number of Sens games this year as I have a few friends that are fans. Mentally they seem to get desperate as soon as they start losing and it spirals. A quality middle 6 vet might be the ticket
