Feels good, we found a way to win but we made it much harder than it should/could have been

for the sens? Nah we got Chabby and Sandy. Tkachuk is also a unicorn

Of course you'd also want to have Tkachuk but Hughes is probably the 2nd best D-man in the league and he might finish high in the all-time list by the end of his career. You always get the BPA and then you figure it out.

And Sanderson wasn't drafted when Hughes was.
