Working in a kitchen sucks.

Also, how has half the industry not been constantly fired for the **** they say to the waitresses

What do you mean

Like a waitress walks in and says "It is hot in here" cook replies "that is just because you walked in"

Consistently referring to them as "baby" or "gorgeous"

One guy literally told the manager he wants to have sex with her behind the bar

If any other restaurants are like this, the industry is turning a blind eye to a big problem.

Arkham Knight is one of the best games released on the PS4 thus far. Just finished the main story. Love it.

But if anyone is interested in it, I would highly recommend playing Arkham Asylum and Arkham City first. Lots and lots of carry-over material.

I have been told that the series highly misrepresents women so I'm hesitant to play. Wasn't a huge fan of the first game, either

Women have it rough, man. I'm super glad I committed to a female dominant career (nursing). Hopefully I'll learn a lot from them so that if I ever have a daughter (or more importantly a wife haha), I'll be able to treat them the way they want and should be treated, and not how I've been for 90% of my life.

If you guys are at all interested in learning about some female perspective in Tech, check out the podcast Isometric

I don't think its really that tough, just treat them the way you'd want to be treated.

Kind of how i go through life :)

I think the way guys wanna be treated is not exactly the way women want to be. There's lots of little things guys do subconsciously, but I agr

Best motto is : Be nice to everyone, even if they aren't nice to you, but don't be afraid to bring out some of that Dragon-Warlock when someone is being a jerk

I'd be interested to hear this argument.

Go on iTunes or any other podcast service and look for Isometric.

Episode 58 start at about 5:48. They talk about it for a couple minutes.

Just a warning, they make fun of the Shia Lebeouf thing for the 5 mins before they get serious (lots of yelling), so if you just wanna skip to the point, that's where you can start.

Also, at about 1:01:30 of episode 57 deals with more why the game is not good for the a lot of people despite good gameplay.

I'd explain it for you, but they do a better job than I ever could

Lots of restaurants are like this, man.

It's not just the cooks, though. The industry as a whole is sexualized. Servers (women, men alike) flirt for tips. I've worked with women who became upset that they had to wear conservative clothes while waiting because the owner felt it should be a family restaurant. I've worked with lots of waitresses who encouraged the catcalling because to them it was simply flirting or complimentary behaviour, not aggressive. On the other hand, I've also worked for managers who have hired women based on their looks, bragged about it to kitchen staff, encouraged sex and drinking between front and back of house, etc. Customers will try to hit on waitresses/waiters all the time, too.

The sexualization isn't the only issue. There's tons of other labour concerns (cooks and wait staff alike get shafted, IMO), rampant drug and alcohol abuse, and in general the culture and language is much darker and racier than in other professions or industries.

Yeah there are going to be differences, but i guess if we were in their shoes is where is was going with it.

And yes, sometimes the dragon warlock is very much needed

Why does our dollar have to be so weak right now? I miss the parity we had with the US greenback.

Any ideas on cool places to visit that has a lot of fun stuff to do (attractions, etc) in Ontario, Quebec, New York State/States close to NY?

Don't want to travel anymore south than NY State, no time.

Already went to NYC.

restaurant culture is highly crass in general. when i was a dish pig i don't particularly remember that kind of interaction with waitresses (but i worked day shifts and off season) but in the kitchen it was basically gay jokes all day long. i also came in after a massive clean-house to return some decorum to the kitchen after it had degraded into where everyone was drunk and/or stoned all the time
