Assuming that's Tatooine, its a sparsely populated planet. I doubt they would have the infrastructure to pull off a salvage job like that.

Plus I'm sure all the internal electronics and technology has been stripped. Its most likely just a skeleton.

That Xwing still remaining is a bigger mystery to me.

For being in the middle of bum**** nowhere and massively out of the way (Outer Rim my ***), Tatooine sure is visited a lot in the Star Wars movies...

I know what you mean. They have a galaxy full of planets and they keep going back to the barren desert.

George Lucas is gone. It's safe to come out now.

Yeah, Abrams may be Sci-Fi's version of Michael Bay at times (though nowhere near as bad as Bay, obviously, I'm just making the comparison in the context of "effects/camera shots vs story"), but:

JJ Abrams >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> George Lucas.

I'm surprised that a valuable piece of military hardware such as that star destroyer was left like that. You would think the rebels would be all over that.

Like Senscore said, it's probably already been scraped of anything of REAL military value. It's probably half empty inside.

The junk salvage will slowly make it's way to Watto's junk yard in due time, I'm sure.

What ive heard about JJ's ideas for Star Wars it sounds like it could be really really good but then I think about Star Trek.... what a disappointment.

I have quite the dilemma on my hands. I live with 3 roommates one of which is a Habs' fan and yesterday as we were having a civil discussion on game 1 I saw him on HfBoards. As he went into the kitchen I walked by his laptop and saw his user name (which i will not disclose). He's a troll, so my question is do i take action or let it be.

I was thinking of replacing his Habs' merchandise which litters the house with Sens' related equipment. Or i could just steal his toilet paper from his bathroom.

The 2009 reboot was awesome, I walked out of that movie with a giant smile on my face

Into Darkness? Not so much, that movie was as "meh" as can be

Does he know who you are on HF? If not you should use that your advantage and stalk him on HF and make him freak out by saying general stuff about him (but not stuff only very few now) in a suggestive way

2009 was a good action movie but I was hoping for more then that. Something meaningful and not completely changing the timeline.

It was such a great Star Trek way to reboot the franchise though

I doubt there's much difference from Tatooine outside of its location. Maybe not an outer rim world, but clearly a desert world and clearly one that looks barely populated.

Tattoine is pretty generic though, it's hard to make a desert world very different.

If it's Tatooine, salvage is definitely a big part of the economy. Slaves looking for cheap materiel to earn extra credits or build a home, Jawas looking to convert massive piles of scrap metal into components to sell.

I get that the population density is small, but a ship that large is likely visible from a long way off, perhaps even from space, and surely would have been spotted during its final, fatal crash into the planet's surface.

Apparently it's not Tatooine. Hypothetically speaking through, the Jawas are not raw metal salvagers, they deal in equipment and technology, primarily. Something like that, which was never designed in the first place to land on the ground would be impossible for them to break down completely. Just the operation itself would require an army of metalworkers and a large array of ships to take away the pieces. Jawas don't really have that sort of capability.

They would however strip it for any electronic or robotic components. Even weapons and equipment. But not likely the hull.

Plus, assuming it went down in a military conflict, it's not that likely there were a lot of civilian outfits in the area to notice such a thing.

I loved the first Star Trek reboot. Awesome space opera flick. And I know I might be in the minority but I also really liked Into Darkness.

Then again, I'm not a Trekkie and I don't mind that he modified the vibe. Much more of a Star Wars fan which I guess explains it. Abrams also made MI:3 which kicked major butt and created Alias, which is one of my fave TV series ever, not to mention Lost.

He's perfect for this franchise and I trust he'll do it justice.

I hope there's some diversity in the main protagonists. Would be cool to have a none-sexed up female lead / co-lead.

Anyone have any info on the main characters apart from the oldies ?

No, he is not aware of my HfBoards use. I decided on stealing his toilet paper and throwing it everywhere in his room.

I have gained access into his room, I'm providing updates from my phone. Thus far it is just a giant mess but I can see croc shoes everywhere and i even found some of those toe croc shoes as well. Maybe a correlation between being a Hab fan and croc shoe usage? Besides the shoes i have made observations on a huge Carey Price cut out (Carey Price is so darn cute, like a button). I was told there is a bathroom here but I can not find it.

I was told

This.

So many movies put in major female characters simply for sex appeal. They are often under developed and have no personality too.

I've been working on staying away from spoilers and theories about The Force Awakens but from what I gather expect one the female characters to be critical, potentially being Leia and Han's daughter
