I spent about $90 on this massive ****ing cast-iron airplane fan.

Best fan I've ever used. It weighs about 100 lbs, and the first speed is blowier than any fan I've ever experienced. The second speed chills you to the point where it will give you a cold. The third speed is so loud you can't even talk over it.

I love that fan.

There is a joke to be made about a 'blowier fan' but Im going to take the high road on this one.

Lewis Black as the angry guy, perfect!

Haven't seen any Pixar movie since Toy Story 3, have I missed anything worthwhile? Wall-E and Up were my favourites.

I quite liked Wreck-it Ralph. Not sure if that was Pixar per se

I'm trying to avoid a darwin award here...wouldn't the hot baking tray melt the plastic? And wouldn't the hot conventional oven melt the plastic film? I know everything is genetically engineered and all that but this seems excessive.

No, I don't think so.

And in terms of the danger of plastic particles leaking into your food, that's happening in your microwave as well.

Depends on what kind of plastic it is. I eat those frozen lasagnas sometimes when i dont feel like cooking and the plastic maintains its integrity throughout the duration of it.

If the plastic melted or poisoned people it would have become public knowledge a long time ago

I don't think it's "poisoning" people and I'm not saying it's going to kill anyone. You're using food-grade plastic and if you ingest a little bit it's no big deal ;)

Don't microwave food or drinks in plastic containers -- even if they claim to be "microwave safe." Heat can break down plastics and release chemical additives into your food and drink. Microwaves heat unevenly, creating hot spots where the plastic is more likely to break down.

Use plastic containers for cool liquids -- not hot.

I'm totally getting cancer from my microwave habits from the ages of 12-19.

Im equally ****ed. Of all the drinking, drugging, smoking and other negative lifestyle choices I habitually engaged in before cleaning myself out, its going to be the bloody microwave dinners and frozen lasagnas that will do me in.

I wonder if there are any gmos in those microwave dinners, I read that they cause super cancer.

That wasn't Pixar, just Disney.

The last few Pixar movies were:

Monsters University
Brave
Cars 2
Toy Story 3

They sure lost a lot of their "magic" since Toy Story 3. I liked Monsters U well enough, I mean it was entertaining but nowhere close to classic status.

Brave and Cars 2 were boring as heck. It's Disney themselves who've made the best animated feature lately with Wreck-It-Ralph. Very underrated.

Hoping Inside Out marks a return to full form for Pixar. What I cannot wait for is Incredibles 2, which Brad Bird said was his next feature.

GMO's are like mods for Skyrim. There are thousands of them, all different. Some enhance the game and never have a problem. Some enhance the game but cause a drop in frame rates.

The idea of GMO's are great but it comes down to each individual one to judge.

I know microwave dinners have a chemical in them that increase the size of tastes buds. I can't remember if its permanent or causes damage.

Brave was mediocre at best.

Brave is well liked by any dads with daughters.

Cars 2 I enjoyed as time filler on a flight to England.
Also missing from that list is Monsters University, which was a decent Saturday night before bed movie

Agreed, there is just so much fear mongering about GMOs it irritates me. Also your analogy was absolutely awesome !

That's great for dads and daughters, but an actually good movie will appeal to most people, which used to be who most Pixar movies appealed to. Brave was just very ordinary overall and "safe" in the sense that it mirrored a lot of Disney princess movies without going for much more.

I had mentioned MU already. Another middle-of-the-pack flick that while entertaining, is not in the same vein as true Pixar classics.

It was a nice movie with a positive female protagonist. Those are rare in cartoon movies these days. As a parent, I'll take as many of them as I can get.

Is it really that rare? If I think back on the less forgettable recent animated movies that've come out, strong female protagonists seem fairly standard these days. I'm thinking the aforementioned Wreck-It Ralph (really really loved Glitch as a strong character who achieves this without just having to be a "male" character with long hair), How To Train Your Dragon 1+2 have strong supporting female characters, maybe Frozen? (Olaf pretty much saved that movie from forgettableness) Brave I found pathetically formulaic and honestly I don't remember a single thing that happened in it. I'd say even Epic was a few grades better, and it wasn't a total win either.

But isn't daughters the target demographic??

FWIW I have not seen the movie.

Yeah, it actually is. There is an avalanche of awful, unacceptable, outright sexist female leads & protagonists in most kids stuff, even today. For every Brave or other good example, there are a thousand Barbie-style CGI garbage movies.

I fully admit you're not aware of the bad ones unless you have a daughter though. You need to trust me on this, though - next time you're at a store that sells DVD's, go look at the pink section.

As for your other examples... Glitch, meh. She's kind of neutral. I liked it, but the entire movie she spent whining and being dependant on others to get things done. It was a funny role, admittedly.

Frozen - literally the two worst people you would want to run a country, haha. It was better than most other movies though as far as role models are concerned, fair enough.

How To Train Your Dragon 2 is a better example of this than the first one was.

Still... these are a small handful of acceptable movies in a horrible put of terrible role models for young girls. You would be amazed at the crap my daughter's friends watch and how it affects them. Like, 6 year olds chastizing my daughter for wanting to be a doctor "because that's a boy's job, girls become vets".

I dunno... I fully admit it gets to me more than some other people. I mean, even now, I feel like I want to go rifle through her DVDs and pull out all the garbage she's been given by her friends over the years.
