You are the one fighting against the grain and the pay off has been established: more daylight (which doesn't really do that much I guess) and more sleep one day with less sleep the other

If you want things to change it's up to you to make the case. Claiming that the way things are currently done are "harmful" isn't likely to cut it though

Spring Forward truly does suck, but Fall Back is like the greatest day of the year.

DST giveth, and DST taketh away.

But we can have more daylight in the summer simply by keeping the clocks forward and making the spring change the last change.

This debate isn't going to go anywhere, but I really don't see any benefit to moving the clocks back and forth.

Again, the point here isn't that it's a cost-benefit evaluation

Things are currently being done in a certain way. You want to change it. You propose changing it because the current set-up is "harmful"

That's not going to get anything done

Meh.

My guy was like "You're good now. Come back and see me next time you do something stupid with your body".

Like most things, it's entirely dependant on the quality of the individual, not the quality of the profession.

Very true, but lets not pretend that that many of the individuals in the field aren't driven by greed.

I'd rather not bother with the lowest common denominator

I acknowledge it but don't think much about it

I think humanity as a whole would be better off if less time was spent worrying about it too

The Germans started using it in World War I. They also started using mustard gas in World War I, too.

Now that's a real argument. I'm sold: DST is clearly hamrful

I wouldn't say we need to worry about it, but we do need to acknowledge it.

Why should we continue to raise those risks just so we can change the clocks?

Regardless of whether or not other things raise those risks there should be some payoff to justify the costs.

by the sounds of it, to weed out the weak....

yes
The outside weather or sunnyness has no effect on me. I don't care about that stuff. I never notice a difference.

Stopped by McDonald's on a whim and had a cheese burger and fries. Probably not the most wisest decision I made today.

I'll say it was nice having that extra hour of daylight today. Especially since the weather was great. Went out on a nice long trail walk in the late afternoon with my puppy!

Very true, but lets not pretend that that many of the individuals in the field aren't driven by greed.

That is an unfortunate reality in many professions.

A chiropractor is like a mechanic. There are some good ones who are honest and good people, and there are some unscrupulous ones who will charge you $2k for unnecessary work.

It's not a great system by any means nowadays, but it's on the consumer to weed out the bad ones and support the good ones.

I wish we had DST here in Indonesia.

Sun is up at 6am, and sets at 6pm. Every day, 6pm. Darkness from 6pm onwards, 365 days a year. Forever. 6pm.

I would kill for just one more hour of sunlight. I mean, 7pm... is that too much to ask? I can deal with 7am sunrises in exchange for 7pm sunsets. I'd gladly even settle for six months of 5pm sunsets if it meant six months of 7pm sunsets. Heck, I'd even do a 4pm/8pm tradeoff.

That's actually something my fiancee found weird in the summer here... how it was daylight until almost 10pm. They get mostly around 6pm sunsets too. At least where she was.

But higher risk of heart attacks, depression and lower productivity!

I've travelled lots, people who get to enjoy daylight savings usually think it's great. Because it is.

I actually had a year where I got to spring forward twice in the same year thanks to travel, and the fact that NA and Europe aren't on the same weeks anymore

Let's just Fall Back every 6 months and give me an extra hour of sleep please. Don't care that we end up at some point staying up at night and sleeping during the day. :D
