There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

-John Rogers

Awesome quote. Could never get into either book, though.

Really wish I had access to a news channel other than CNN. Aside from Anderson Cooper, I can't stand anyone or anything about that station.

LOTR worth the investment, speaking as a late comer myself.

:laugh::handclap:
I've seen that one before and love it. Atlas Shrugged was such a terrible excuse of a novel and even worse as a manifesto for a philosophy of life.

Yeah, real visceral reaction over here to anyone who gets off on Rand's ubermensching. Why I really enjoy that quote.

Lol, yes, Rand has a tendency to ramble quite badly....even worse than Stephen King.

However, the basic premise of being productive, providing something to society, developing quality goods & services and not having profit be an "evil" word or concept are good concepts.

It's the zealots on either side that warp everything. From the 'profit and money is evil', to 'let's screw our customers and society to get the biggest profit possible' crowd. Once again, in life, it's all about balance.

Bacon at Tim Horton's is not good. Had bacon instead of sausage on my breakfast biscuit and it did not taste all that well.

What's even worse are the GOP members that prescribe to the ideology while also being religious zealots despite Rand's deeply atheist message in her work. Those people are extremely dangerous imo. Rand's ideology is very dangerous on its own in a functioning society but those people are too ignorant to even take part... and they hold the majority of the damn house of Representatives.

Yeah except her basic premise wasn't that. She basically tries to argue that all 'blue collar' work provides no value to society and those people are the leeches to the 'white collar' thinkers.
And the entire book set up a strawman argument to try to prove her point.

I found a deal on Craigslist. I can get Zelda Orcarina of Time, Banjo Kazooie, and Banjo Tooie all for $60, with boxes and instructions. I never owned any of the games but played them all as a kid (we rented a lot.) EBay has them slightly cheaper, but with shipping, it'll come to a bit higher.

What do you guys think? Decent deal?

Also, completely random, but does anyone on here have either of the Mystical Ninja games for N64? Mine were stolen years ago.

Incredible deal. You could resell each game individually for about that. Not that you would. All three kick ass.

Ocarina of Time has not aged well at all: I'm not sure how much that might affect your enjoyment of it but I hated playing it on the 3DS and I used to finish that game every single year from 1998 to 2005

Banjo and Kazooie was super sweet back in the day, easily one of the best platformers on the system

Never played Bajoo Tooie, I'd say it's a safe bet that it's a good game though

B-K still holds, IMO, as one of the top action-adventure platformers of all time. Tooie was a much wider and more expansive world, but lacked juuuust a bit of the Kazooie charm.

Bullocks. OoT has aged VERY well. Still easily one of the greatest games of all time. Honestly, if you brought up the topic on a gaming forum, OoT would probably be top of most poeple's list for games that aged well. I play that game at least once every year and still enjoy the crap out of it every time. Goldeneye on the other hand... I really can't play that anymore, which is kind of sad.

I just loaded up Goldeneye the other week for multiplayer and it was still as fun as I remember it.
I don't think I ever finished Ocarina of Time, and currently still seem to be missing about half of my n64 carts.

FF3 (US numbering) is still one of my all-time favourites followed by Chrono Trigger.

FFVI was the first game to make me cry (Cid!!! NOoooooooooooooooooooooo )

Goldeneye multiplayer is still ok but that's another one that I find has aged poorly in singleplayer

Mario 64 is the poster boy of games that have aged well as far as I'm concerned

Agreed. Crap! They had to change their hash browns for the same reason!

I do like A&W's Bacon N Egger ! And McDonalds Egg McMuffin (with ham) is good too.
