Really hard for me to say "Happy fathers day" with a type of father I've had.

Happy fathers day to the good fathers out there.

Happy father's day to all the dads out there!

I am celebrating with a BBQ steak dinner, and I am picking the rhubarb from my garden to make a rhubarb pie for dessert. I will have to roll myself into work tomorrow.

I didn't even get a single macaroni-craft card from any of you!

This is how you treat your own a completely random internet father? For shame!

Seriously?

Pretty much, yes. The program has been abused for a long time and while there are cases where the actual recipients are legitimate, they are in the minority.

ODSP and Ontario Works have their roles as well, but back in the Bob Rae days, welfare was a very comfy alternative to working.

The issue was in how he was choosing to cut the deficit. After laying off 100,000 workers he was planning on cutting corporate tax from 11.5% to 8%. The idea is essentially trickle down economics, where if we pad the wallets of corporations enough, those corporations will turn around and hire people. That idea has some merit, but it does not work to anywhere near the degree that the politicians would have us believe. What we are left with is middle class people shouldering the burden of paying down the deficit, while the richest in society get huge breaks.

The truth did not cost him the election. An unpalatable ideology that had its heyday back in the mid to late 1980s did.

It is also about trying to keep Ontario competitive in attracting businesses with regards to taxation. Liberals are going to go the other way with corporate taxes and another pension plan.

Nobody is paying down this deficit, middle, upper class or the rich with our latest budget.

The 100k number though, wasn't actual layoffs though - it was largely attrition of middle management type positions. Heck some of the boogeymen that were being tossed about in that number by the liberals, the province doesn't even have control over hiring/firing(ie firefighters).

To support the Liberal plan, two years down the road they're going to have to cut significantly more jobs than the PC plan ever planned. And rising hydro costs are just going to drive all manufacturing out of the province.

The Liberals are going to layoff those same people anyways, they just weren't going to put it in their platform.

That really sucks...my father never had a father (died in WWII) so he basically learned as he went. I can only hope you will learn from what you didn't like and use it for good when you are ready!

I hate when I try to message a girl on a dating site, but can't because she only accepts messages from guys older than them

Trying to write a research essay due tomorrow and my power goes out. Great :)

That sounds like the opposite of great, I can't believe you're smiling through this! Really, I'd be completely inconsolable and borderline homicidal. But you know, good on you for seeing life through a different, happier lens. I feel happier for you being happier! If you say it's great, I'll echo that wholeheartedly. Please, power, stay out for a long, long time! :D

Oh, that was sarcasm. Damn, now I'm sad again. :( WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME FEEL THESE THINGS?
