Universities would probably go bankrupt if they couldn't milk visa students.
Ontario ~ 12 billion dollars for post secondary education (principally universities and colleges)
Ontario ~ $15,000 per foreign student (fees)

~ 290,000 are in Ontario. out of ~ 900,000. which is about 35%

at 15,000 K that is ~ 3 billion that is about

another unaccounted for expense; living expenses. Approximately $20,000 per year. Or about 6 billion a year.

Foreign students are ~ 9 billion a year to Ontario.

an education tab is being countered by some 9 billion. granted the 6 billion in living expenses is only about 4 billion in tax dollars.

so ~ 7 billion gets pumped into taxes/education.. of the 12 billion... 50%.

we just need to make sure they go back home afterwards and not flood our work force. Otherwise it is a win/win

But, what kind of workforce will we have in a decade when Canadian kids aren't getting those spots in schools? Training up other countries is noble and all, but you need to educate your own future workforce, too.

you need not worry. This is not a hockey team, with one goalie, 6 D and 12 forwards. A classroom can be expanded, several classes can be offered, and so on. A solid 1-2 thousand PHD students graduate a year looking for a teaching position.

the issue has always been the same. Kids get here, like it here and stay. Others are even more brilliant, they marry real quick, get Canadian immigrant status and pay Canadian fees after that. And they bypass traditional immigration streams and checks and priority.

And in small doses, the act is cynical. Once married and having immigrant status, good bye Canadian husband or wife, back to the home land to marry and, Canada has family unification laws, suddenly many people are here.

lest you think me to be some redneck. I was not born here.

But less the cynical marriage.. even the noble marriage where they do stay with their mate.. there is immigration, refugee status and so on.

so of the 300,000 students (Ontario), If so much as 5-10% stay, now we have a flooding of the system. Can you imagine a near instantaneous dropping in of 30,000 university or college educated kids dropped in on us.. each and every year.

so we have an issue
1) we love their money
2) moral grounds, offer education to much of the world
3) flooding...

can you imagine allowing in 30,000 tradesmen a year into Ontario (plumbers, electricians, etc.)? it would cause havoc.

Quebec and Ontario tear each other to shreds over construction workers crossing over.. and that impact a few thousand. Now imagine 30,000 people waving a post secondary degree!!!! a year, every year!

Except we don't have enough doctors, nurses, engineers, and some trades (construction and a few others). And for whatever reason, schools aren't expanding classes for some of those needed professions (especially doctors).
We need to fix that part of things.

4) not university or college. This requires 1-2 years of training and training under the supervision of a tradesman. It means an 18 year old. We do not bring in 18 year old immigrants. We bring families.
Canadian 18 year olds want a university degree and do not want to break their back in manual labor.
Immigrant kids hit universities harder than native Canadian kids.. So the trades are being starved

2) same as 4) but with an added issue.. The USA drains us of nurses. They pay better and its warmer... and the allure of the USA

1) Doctors.. health care is a sacred cow.. we cannot have dumb doctors, people will die. So to enter Med school, you have to be smarter than smart. Few meet it!!!! and as with Nurses... The USA.. Even if we open it up to as many foreigners as possible.. The USA and life is fantastic for a Doctor in any hell hole on earth.. So, get your degree,, go elsewhere to make bug bucks.. end result, shortage

3) If you want me in tears, we can continue..

I know it's the end of October and they'll be taking them down soon, but can we discuss what a pointlessly terrible idea (and probably huge waste of money) these speed flap pylon things are that have been installed on every 40km/h street that's even anywhere close to a main route? These things are everywhere in Orleans now and do absolutely nothing but f*** up OCtranspo buses and people backing out of their driveways. Best of all the city doesn't (or are very slow) to upkeep them after they've been demolished by a bus or boomer still with a license. Theres a jagged metal scrap piece bolted right to the ground a couple streets from my house. Any kind of reflector or safety feature is long gone and it's basically there to f*** up your right-side tires after sundown.

This city is turning into a complete mess.

this will get me in trouble.

Watching England v. Canada in Women's rugby

seeing females 5'4" to 6' 2", 200-250 lbs is hard to watch.

They literally have weights listed for the majority of players on team Canada and none are that weight. I feel as though you think any female over 120lbs are hard to look at.

Pageau my late wife was 170 lb

did you watch the match? And these two pictures are flattering. They use AI image enhancing. The real players are way rougher looking.. crooked noses, rough faces, ears that are like MMA fighters. and the 15 plus 5 spares that came on today.. WAHHHH.

I have so, so much to say to you but no way to say it without 'crossing the line.' lol

So I will say that when I played rugby in highschool, we were lucky enough to have intertwined boys/girls teams. Intramural practices, shared coaching/strategies, boys team would get to travel with and cheer on the girls team (and vice versa) from time to time. Was a great time because it was such an unknown/unappreciated sport - was easy to form a 'common' bond with eachother.

*Not* meant to be political. Just posting to guage reactions, if any. It is local news technically...

What are you talking about? This is a dumb take made by someone who has no idea what they’re talking about.

My daughters play high level rugby and Team Canada trains out here and play with and around the girls all the time.

They look like regular women of all shapes and sizes when they aren’t in their gear and fired up for games. They also range in sizes based mostly around what position they play (typically speed vs brawn to put it simplistically).

They are absolutely not a group of huge brutes who are hard to look at.

What a dumb post man, be better.

These are our girls, who recently beat the Yanks 50-17 in 15’s by the way. Look at those monsters!

nothing to do with it ACLEVERNAME.

high school rugby is not élite rugby. The girls are recreational players.

Now watch the game between England and Canada and see what you see?

women thick as bowling balls, muscle bound.. no necks, shoulders that are middle linebackers. A boxers face, cuts that will mean long term facial distortions. Ears that are damaged and sticking out from being nearly torn off in scrums..

I played sports in high school and recreationally since. I have played ton of "pseudo-élite" sports. Women athletes are the greatest to be around. They tend to be women in body, but men in behavior. it makes them fantastic to be with and around.

But this? And sitting there watching it.. Damn hard Dude. This is when you take things to the nth degree. And it is hard to watch.
