As someone that was not affected by his actions, it would be disingenuous of me to state how I feel about it.
laws are written by people not directly affected.
the entire judicial system is required..REQUIRED.. to be by people unaffected.
Juries must be made up of people not affected.

It is how we function as a society.. It is the Unaffected that render judgment and offer closure. It is the unaffected that shape decisions and courses of action.

If a drunk driver hits your car and kills a loved one.. Should you be the one sentencing him, trying him, arresting him, investigating him, making a decision on his parole, making a decision on his life?

If he is found guilty (the drunk driver) and does his time., now what? should long term forgiveness be in your hands? Long term consequences?

Hope you are feelin better Qward.. Chin up.

I have been. From 263 to 213 in 3 months. I am 6'4 to put it in perspective.

I do, therapist is on vacation atm.

I appreciate all the support.

I passed my exam. Qward BBA PMP.

Now for Masters of Education.

As in, take more B12 or less?
The fact, with all that shit going on in your personal/professional life and you stillmanaged to pass that exam is testament to how badass you really are. Atta boy.

I give my kids this advice when it comes to anxiety and depression: is your reaction to be depressed or anxious a normal reaction? It would sound like any person who broke up with a partner and has to work with them will feel depressed and anxious. That shit sucks.

It is the non-organic anxiety that is my cause for concern, and with my kids. When they dont know why they are anxious...

Sometimes, it helps to look behind you and see what you have accomplished , and where you have been. We are all stronger than we think

I have been away most of the summer but did find the last 20 pages interesting and am thankful that the mods let it play out a bit.

I think everyone is entrenched in their arguments, but I am always willing to listen and to be educated, swayed, and while I may not change my mind, the end result is understanding the other point of view better. This is possible when things do not devolve and turn into name calling, labelling, etc...

Close friend of mine had their child come out as gay at 24 years old, and that child new at 13. The parent's first response was guilt because the child did not feel comfortable that the parents would accept that choice. All those years that child suffered needlessly. And this is the problem. These are kids, and they are not equipped mentally to deal with these incredibly serious mental health challenges. For that child, who felt 100% loved and safe, and will always be loved unconditionally feel uncomfortable to tell the mother is the exact reason why minors are not capable of making life changing decisions. It is too big. Parents will understand that. Others simply will never understand what parents understand.

A child needs a loving home, and many who are against pronouns and such simply are obtuse to think that every home is a loving home. It isn't. But the family structure has crumbled, and society is extremely ill-equipped to deal with the repercussions.

I think schools should stay in their lane. They don't and we all know that. This is also a problem.

Lastly, the evolution of society has created substandard humans and adults. That is a fact. Weak, inconsolable humans are what has happened to a society that has been way too comfortable. Parents on steroids. Developed Society way too far from real strife, war and persecution. Social media has raped our children's minds, and there aren't enough mental health care professionals to pick up the pieces. Too little professionals , too f***ing expensive. So we have more homeless people that will never get an apartment , not because they cannot afford it, but they are too far gone mentally to handle anything. I shake my head when I hear experts saying that the homeless need a home...but no one will rent to them.

Sometimes I hate who I have become, and look at my parent's generation and see how weak and pathetic I am compared to them. WE have only known easy times, and we are soft.

Without adequate, ABUNDANT, access to mental health professionals, which would require an overhaul of our medical healthcare system, society will be in big trouble. T

TikTok is your teenager's mental health source. Be very afraid.

Homelessness, lawlessness, suicides, and lack of teen gender support will exacerbate a society that has run its course because of social media.

I don’t think I’ve seen any of those in full. I know I’ve at least seen pieces of a couple.
Ahh you yung'ens.

You got so much to learn.

Okay.. you have ot start slow.. You cannot jump straight in, the shock will kill you.

Saturady morning. Start on Turner Classics... They put on 1930-1960's movies.. the "Swell Dame movies".. as in "That Julie, She's a Swell Dame".. Imagine that in 1930 clank accents.

Once you build up your immune system. Get a hold of Lean's classics..

Seriously. They are melodramatic, but actually pretty good. Cheesy by today's standard, but well done.

By the time Lean came around.. The Humphry Bogart.."SEE..See, I 'tell you.. She's a Swell Dame" movies were done (Thank God). Lean brought a more mature, harder edged nature to his movies..

Anthony Quinn is terrific in Lawrence or Arabia.

I feel so attacked here. It’s not wrong, though, the mental gymnastics you do at that age to convince yourself everything is going 100% to plan are wild.
Last chance U, lol. Reputation earned in the 90s and they still haven't shaken it 20-30 years later despite changing their admissions standards ages ago.

Its annoying because we are one of the few departments that has to be on campus. Everyone else gets the luxury of working remotely. When I see the prez I am bring it up.
I pay a little under 400 a year for the privilege of somewhere to put my car two days a week after driving 30kms to do something I could have done remotely. Not entirely the same but I feel your pain.

First world problems I know, but I don't see how switching which people are unemployed really solves anything, I'd much rather create jobs than shuffle the deck.

Oh its like that?

How about this. My take home pay is $1050.
Guess how much rent for a 2 bedroom apartment is in this city because of the amazing idea of bringing in hundreds of thousands of international students a year? $1650 + utilities. In the f***ing ghetto!

Try being a single parent when you have to look at your bank account and see you have $300 to last you 11 days until pay day.

So yeah, I am going to bitch. I am going to complain spending 50% of my paycheque to go to a job where my bosses are on the sunshine list and get to work remotely because they made that decision while they drive Land Rovers and I have to fight for 10 months to get my job reviewed only for them to offer an extra $39 per pay.

Biweekly? Is this the city, province or feds that pays so little? Or is it a crown corp?

Lmao. I have an uncle like this. Lost touch with the common man a long time ago. At this point
I suspect based on previous comments @Knave just though @Qward was a gov't employee where salary tends to start higher, but I believe he works at a University? Price of parking makes me suspect Carleton but maybe the gonk, idk nor does it really matter.

We're talking about making minimum wage here. I was surprised.

That sucks that a government institution is basically paying its people minimum wage. The good news is it's about to jump $1 an hour next month to $16.55. Hopefully people on minimum wage see some benefit in that.
