a bunch of rich old men, decide to do something stupid because they can.. get themselves smashed to bits.

and foreign nations, namely us, spend a small fortune and multiple resources searching.

F'ng diesel engines on large ships go through fuel like f'ng crazy.. and we have to indulge some moron rich folk... Meanwhile wild fires...

How are our priorities so f***ed up?
Well, we are trying to put our fires AND help save people from drowning no matter how rich and or dumb they are.

Our priorities in this situation are to save human lives. Doesn‘t seem f***ed up to me.

I'm doing my first trip with my gf that involves getting on a plane...to Vancouver for 5 days. Neither of us has been, and we have Stanley Park, Grouse Grind, Capilano Bridge, Sea to Sky Gondola, Khalsa Diwan Society in Abbotsford, and Kitsilano Beach. If anyone has any suggestions on where to go please share. Can't wait to see mountains and have what should be the best Punjabi food in the country.

I'd love to do the Grouse Grind one day, but I need to get into shape first!

Downtown: check out the great restaurants on Robson st near Denman. Some great ramen places, which you can't miss given the long line-ups in front of them! There's a Japanese grocery store there too with a wide selection of Poki sticks among other interesting things!

In the same area there's longstanding Banana Leaf, a Malaysian restaurant I really enjoyed. Plenty of authentic Koreans too. Hon's was a famous Dim Sum place in that area but I believe it's closed now unfortunately.

Street food: Japadog is a must! It's hot dog with a Japanese twist: teriyaki mayo, seaweed, etc.

If you're going North and West Van, there's Horseshoe Bay a bit further where you can enjoy nice scenery and fresh seafood. In North Van proper, plenty of Iranian restaurants, but plenty of turnover, just read the reviews online I guess...

Oh and most importantly don't miss Granville Island! It's also downtown (but South: most fun way to get there is with an Aquabus), with an amazing covered market with great vibes, and plenty of great food and dessert options.

Kitsilano's not too far; they used to have a great record store called Zulu's but I'm not sure it's open anymore, and besides who buys records these days? But that area still has a "cool" aura, and so you might find some nice coffee shops and brunch places to hang out at.

Enjoy your trip and please report back!

What ever happened to humans taking risks to advance society? The same was said to people trying to climb a mountain, fly a plane, contain electricity, got to space. Use at own risk used to be the motto.

26 hours without power after April's ice storm. the temperature in my home 12 C.. In an area that has many retirees.. can you imagine 12 C on them.

Other people in the Ottawa area and Quebec endured a week or more. April was unusually cold.. 2-3 days when nighttime temperatures were hitting 0 means your home would hit 7-8 C in nothing flat.

f*** rich old bastards, pre-occupy yourself with the rest of us. Who do not want to freezer to death in our own homes.

Last month, I got an e-mail from my Doctor, wanting me to pre-pay $200 just in case, I need an over the phone prescription. Government has been cutting funds...So now some octogenarian, in her own home, not hurting anyone has to shell out $200. So that some dump f*** rich idiot, can see the bottom of the ocean floor.

And all of this, after the US navy told searchers, their sensors picked up an implosion!!!!!!

How many octogenarians had their lives shortened by the ice storm in April??? How many endured 1-3 days of freezing, which will put them 6 feet under way sooner than they like...

advance society, how? rich folks want to do something unique.. Make them feel GOD like.. I can do something, few others can...GOD like..

they are discovering nothing, nothing is learned. It is a joy ride.... So when they are with their other rich friends, they can show them the pictures and have their friends be jealous.

In Manotick, there is a dinner.. Creek Side.. I use to eat breakfast there... You got to know the regulars.. One old coote..70 plus, injured legs, so he was physically challenged.. ... pulls up in a Ferrari.. It took the old coot 10 minutes to get out of it!!!!!!! what the F for??????? Just because you can. Just to impress, I have a Ferrari.. I am rich..

No common sense on the old coote to get an SUV, which is way easier on him...NO, a Ferrari that is 4 inches off the ground and he is physically challenged and 70 plus!!!!

4-5 naval vessels, other vessels, cost a f***ing fortune. They are there to keep us safe, not waste a week looking for morons.

Sounds like someone is jealous. If you could afford a Ferrari you'd be the one stopped at a green light replying on HFB.

if I owned a Ferrari, it would be for one reason only. To get a skank half my age.

Now since, I fear Viagra and STDs, I will live without the skank and the Ferrari.

Too much fear, too little living man! hehehe
it is more satisfying to work in my garden, than to worry about a women 1/2 my age and a car 4 inches off the ground.

I have lived enough, seen enough and done enough..700 HP behind my head is not what is missing in my life... a 70 year old, good cook, bad knees, diabetic is.. but that got taken care of. Now I have her ashes in a bio ern to plant on Monday.

I had dinner with Murray Gilman one time.. google him..

I worked with a good friend of James Cameron.. He showed me a picture of Cameron and his then wife (The lady from terminator, I am forgetting her name....Linda Hamilton, I think).. Pretty women.

I have seen, read, have a degree, a post graduate degree.. worked on a multitude of products.. for years, when you looked up..my CCD sensor was on the U2 spy plane..10 KM field of view. Space electronics, mid range efficiency combustion units...patents.. lived in different places and done plenty.

I have lived... Now I need tomatoes to remain below $4 a pound and I am content. It would help if snot nosed 25 year olds would not lecture me, but then again, as a 25 year old, I lectured 60 year olds.. what goes around, comes around.

why all hate for Old people, and Rich people?

With any luck, you too will get to be 70 plus… are you planning to just stay home?

People work hard to get Rich, and they earned their money at no one else’s expense… so how they choose to spend their own money, is no business or anyone else’s.

Anyone can get Rich if they want to, so are you advocating for the opposite?

old people with money is who was on that sub..plus one idiot who brought his son.. It's old people with money taking Jeff Bezos rocket and Elon Musk's rocket.

F'ng insanity.

Millions... that could feed millions.

Then when these fools get lost, we go get them..at great cost.

Not all old fools trouble me, many are much more practical. Old people, by and large are sensible and down to earth... But every once in a while!!!!

go become as rich as humanly possible, but please do not waste that money on a trip to the bottom of the ocean... If you do, please absolve us of having to look for you. Or expend resources doing so..

Please do not sit on some rocket spewing propellent into the air. And if it goes off course, it becomes a WWII V2 rocket!!!

Spend you millions or billions on vessels that travel above the waters. This way, we can always find you. And maybe you would have the common sense to stay on the dock in bad weather. Only venture out in good weather... And minimize your impact on us.

Only rich people seem to go skiing on high mountains, in unchartered, uncontrolled areas.. Then avalanches and we spend time, money and risk further lives getting to them.. The poor go skiing at Saint Sauver.

The rich take small private planes. They crash and we spend countless hours looking for the,, The poor, take trains and buses..never get lost. the odd large plane crash is generally found easily.

70 plus year olds, with physical disabilities should not be in Ferraris (read one post down from where you got the post_

You have your point of view on this and other matters, and you are fully entitled to that….just are these people, who lost their lives in this risky venture…. They made their choices to spend their money the way they saw fit…just like you do with yours. I don’t anything about these people, but they are not obligated to spend their money they way you think they should.

Are you suggesting that search and recuse should only come to the aid of poor people?

As for the 70 year old with the Ferraris … all the more power to him, he earned it, and who is to say what he can or cannot do? It may look moronic to you, but it may look heroic to someone else… to each his own, we live in a free market capitalist society… you work hard, and you reap the benefits… and those benefits are defined by the individual, not the government, the church or any one person…. You decide how you want to live your life, just as this guy with the Ferraris does… you choice might wacko to him.

nothing is free, you know that..

when you have the means to venture out further and further, it means we have to go further and further to get you.

at some point, it becomes unfair to all of us..NO, do not just save the poor..Save the reasonable.

I was at Freshco..32 degrees outside...air conditioning blaring inside.. Doors open... Now you say, an issue for the owner.... Energy belongs to all of us,, as does the chemicals that run in the refrigeration/AC units..they pollute our air..

At some point, and I am paraphrasing a famous Jewish expression "the needs of the many, out weigh the needs of the few". If you can afford to buy 1,000,000 vials of insulin and throw it away, is it right?

At some point, we need to tell that Heli skier. If an avalanche or an accident.. we are not coming.

neither could Murray Gilman and he had a Noble Peace prize.

defining the top quark is not half as useful as hitting a fastball, or building a condo!!!

You need to read Richard Fyman's books.. they are excellent

Beech, I could give a f*** about a Ferrari, or ‘skanks’ for that matter. I was honestly just making a light hearted comment for levity.

My wife and children are my life, my friends and family next…. and I love my cars (all ‘older’ classics alive due to my time, blood and sweat), but they are just ‘things’.

I wish that I had taken a picture, but at the local Elementary school, some guy had what appeared to be a 1955-1962 car. Low build, not like many 1950's cars. While a sedan, freaky.. It looked sharp.

I looked to see similar cars on the Net..A 57 Dodge regent, maybe,
