Pre-Game Talk: SENS in La Belle Province (Habsville), Tuesday 7 pm

Well I'm glad they narrowed down Jensen's problems to 2/3 of his body
I think we can probably assume its somewhere from knee to hips...most likely groin or knee. A while ago he seemed to get twisted up

You mean to say Brucie messed up the translation when writing this gem? Lol!!

Either way this doesn't take away for my post, as Xhekaj (likely prompted by the reporter) came out and singled out Tkachuk.

From the article:

Having Gilbert allows Tkachuk to play his game without the need to drop the gloves. If Xhekaj needs to sit for 5, then I rather someone like Gilbert than a Tkachuk (who is willing to go with heavies like Wilson and shouldn't). If Xhekaj targets Tkachuk like he says he will, he will have to think about what happens when he sits 5 mins with Gilbert while Tkachuk is still running amok.
Yeah, it was a direct response to the question along the lines of "how do you play against Brady, or is better to ignore his drama and not play into his game?"

Xhejak is a non factor unless you let him become one. No need to change the roster around him, just be aware when he's on the ice and don't put yourself in a position where he can cross the line and take liberties.

Softcocky is going to learn tonight being Brady Takchuk isn’t about blue plaint hockey or fighting, it’s not about your 18 minutes on the ice each night - it’s about inspiring 20 men to fight as hard as they can for an NHL win and having those 20 men follow you into battle and be a part of the team, it’s about being the man in the locker room not on the opening face off

Slavcocky thinks he can throw a few punches and be Brady Tkachuk, that’s why he’s not a leader, he’s just a talented hockey player, he’ll never be Brady Takchuk, ever, and won’t ever even get close, it’s just a dream Softcocky has
Well this got weird real fast

Green has already shown that he's not going to rock the boat on a winning streak.

When we lose, and it may well be in this game, there will be a lot of "I told you so's" but it seems as if he's sticking to his guns.
Liked because, damnit, I believe you are right.

haha pretty much

but from a matchup standpoint it makes sense to run ullmark vs our eastern conference opponents until we clinch. Especially since some of these eastern conference matchups are against teams that are chasing us.
I'd consider not dressing Ullmark and Tkachuk vs the Avs if either is playing hurt. Quite a stretch of meaningful, to very-f***ing-meaningful, games coming up. Give Forsberg the start, play Zetterlund with Giroux and Stutzle, fill out the 4th line. It's not that the 2 points don't matter, it's just a rare opportunity to rest for a game that isn't worth 4 points. Who knows?! Maybe the noys surprise everyone - the Avs will be on the backend of back-to-back.

i think with how our cap is we can only afford to not dress one of them. We only have a million in cap space. That could change if we decide to waive Gilbert because I do agree my preference would be to not dress Ullmark and Brady and have them be 100% (or as close to it) for the playoffs.

Last time we played them, Ullmark was still shakey coming off his injury, and we had a million of our top players out.

Way better team this time around. Let’s see what happens.

Habs might be a nuisance if they sneak into the playoffs and go on a 2010-like Halak run. Let's put a fork into them the next two times we play them!
Habs are a nice feel good story for their fans, but in reality, they would get slapped by a top team in the playoffs. Even in 2010, the Capitals were perennial chokers and MAF showed to be as well.

I truly believe they’d be dusted in 4

Travis Yost giving love to the Senators.

Travis says Chabot is having a Norris calibre season, while totally forgetting to give Sanderson his roses. But yeah, he is seeing what some of us are seeing and that is a sleeper of a contender from East. Florida is still the beast from the East, but are experiencing injury issues (but expected to be healthy for playoffs, cheating Ekblad back by game 3). I think Ottawa will be competitive against the likes of Carolina, Washington, Toronto and TBay.

I agree about Sanderson. I thought he would have been the D-man to mention ahead of Chabot. But either way Yost is definitely right about the Sens’ defensive game being a standout and especially Ullmark being a huge confidence booster.

Getting a hockey compliment from Travis Yost is like getting cooking compliments from a raccoon.
After posting that I have come to realize, by the responses, that Sens fans do not like Yost at all. I haven't really paid attention to his articles over the years, I am guessing he is inconsistent and regularly incorrect in his assessments.

I wouldn't guess that being the reason.

Unfortunately. His love for HGH (Hamonic, Gaudette, Highmore) is borderline sadistic. However, the team does have a winning streak with these players so yeah he is unlikely to change the roster much.

True say. However, I don't like to keep things to chances. Have a deterrant (aka MacGrattan) when you know the other team will ice an asshole who doesn't care who he harms, whether Stutzle or his own team mate Pazzetta lol.

Lol just happened today at practice, so they are coming frisky and in bad mood. Yeah I am not Travis Green, but as an arm chair coach I would like to at least ponder the possibility of having someone take pressure off of Tkachuk who we need on the ice, not in the penalty box. I expect a physical game.

The best deterrence is a PP goal or two.

Habs have best record in the NHL in the last month or 2 I think

Not an easy one at all
Going back 2 months to Jan 17 for points
Sens are 9th and habs are 19th
Going back one month to Feb 17
Sens are 9th and habs are 6th ( but best winning percentage)

Going back to December 1st, Sens are 5th in points.

Go Sens, beat those whiny diving habs.

Halak had a historical performance. I don't see Montembeault doing that

You remember the difference McGrattan’s entry/KO of Dummy Tie Domi made in turning the story around where Ottawa went from Jacques Martin’s “Turn the other cheek” Sens. The Leafs stopped taking liberties after years of physically beating up the Sens without retribution.

It’s a matter of philosophy, what you say it true but why be subjected to that penalty in the first place, if it means deterring potential injuries to star players as that can totally flip the script on the Sens postseason dream?

Anyway we are splitting hairs, Green loves him his HGH. So if Xhekaj or Paz takes an unnecessary run at a Sen it would be up to our captain once again to handle (and he shouldn’t so close to the playoffs and risk injuries).
