Pre-Game Talk: SENS in La Belle Province (Habsville), Tuesday 7 pm

What happened to jensen?
I don't believe they have mentioned what is bothering him.

He hasn't practiced in a while, but had been playing games. I assume whatever has been bothering him got to the point of him missing the Leafs game.

If time off means he can be healthy for the playoffs, I hope they give him the time he needs.

Softcocky is going to learn tonight being Brady Takchuk isn’t about blue plaint hockey or fighting, it’s not about your 18 minutes on the ice each night - it’s about inspiring 20 men to fight as hard as they can for an NHL win and having those 20 men follow you into battle and be a part of the team, it’s about being the man in the locker room not on the opening face off

Slavcocky thinks he can throw a few punches and be Brady Tkachuk, that’s why he’s not a leader, he’s just a talented hockey player, he’ll never be Brady Takchuk, ever, and won’t ever even get close, it’s just a dream Softcocky has

If the 4 nation break didn't help, I don't think a couple of games off will help too much.

Habs are hot and desperate. Will be a brutally tough game imo as they are playing great hockey.
I'm predicting that Gaudette will get completely exposed in this game. He is neither fast enough nor tough enough. I'd like to see Jenik in for Gaudette and Gilbert in for Highmore - play 11-7, rotate Greig, Amadio, Pinto, Cozens in with the 4th line in place of Gilbert unless there is a need for some overt physicality.

I'd rather play 11-6 than 11-7.

Well, I mean, that's really what I'm proposing. Gilbert is along for the ride and to keep the bench warm unless Xhejki decides to be his normal cement-head self.

I get what you are saying in principle but I don't think Travis Green is the kind of guy to sit a player on the bench for the entire game.

Instead, we'll get the rotating pairings that keep changing throughout the game (like previous 11-7 situations) and none of our D ever really look comfortable.

Xhekaj did threaten violence on Tkachuk after 4Nations. While Tkachuk will not shy away from obliging to fight Jack Eye, I much rather not have Tkachuk fight a scrub. And if Gilbert means one less of Gaudette or Highmore for 1 game, then I am all for it as someone like Greig who Green trusts and plays a lot can also take 4th line draws/double shift with Zetterlund and one of Gaudette/Highmore.

Ideally, the 4th line doesn't have No More Highmore or Adam Gaudette, Belleville has options in Jenik (who I would immediately slot in over either), Big Mac, and others. No idea when Cousins is back, as he is the ideal option we have for 4th LW.

Green has already shown that he's not going to rock the boat on a winning streak.

When we lose, and it may well be in this game, there will be a lot of "I told you so's" but it seems as if he's sticking to his guns.

He's been playing a lot lately. It's likely that Green just wants to rest him.

I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 guys play tomorrow.

Maybe, I guess I'm also just concerned in that with Tkachuk and Jensen (especially Jensen), the problems they've got right now just aren't going to go away until the offseason.

I'm sure Tkachuk in particular won't miss too many games but we will need him to be as close to maximum effectiveness as possible.

Underrated with this team is they have played massively desperate teams who are playing for their hockey lives and won and won convincingly as in there was a never a time they didn’t have a good chance to win the game.

Detroit, Rangers, Leafs, Bruins and they came back versus Washington and Philly. Kane said they were playing for their hockey lives and Ottawa won. And Ullmark isn’t even at his best.

team just said ullmark and tkachuk are expected to play. So same lines and Ullmark is the expected starter

I wonder if that means forsberg is starting vs colorado

He did not, somebody trusted Google translate and it mangled the msg. He just said he wants to go right at him and play hard against Tkachuk,

You mean to say Brucie messed up the translation when writing this gem? Lol!!

Either way this doesn't take away for my post, as Xhekaj (likely prompted by the reporter) came out and singled out Tkachuk.

From the article:

Cloutier stated on the social media site X on Saturday afternoon that the Google Translate of the conversation wasn’t accurate.

“I’ll butt heads with him. I go right at him. I fire him up. I don’t care,” Cloutier reported that Xhekaj said.

Tkachuk and Xhekaj have a history.

In a pre-season game in October, Tkachuk jumped Xhekaj after a nasty hit on centre Tim Stutzle. Xhekaj was given a five-minute major and game misconduct for the incident.

“I’ll go hard every shift I have with him and try to make his life (miserable) … try to make him have a tough night. Just bring it to him harder than he brings it to me,” Xhekaj added.

Having Gilbert allows Tkachuk to play his game without the need to drop the gloves. If Xhekaj needs to sit for 5, then I rather someone like Gilbert than a Tkachuk (who is willing to go with heavies like Wilson and shouldn't). If Xhekaj targets Tkachuk like he says he will or even a Stutzle, he will have to think about what happens when he sits 5 mins with Gilbert while Tkachuk is still running amok.
