Relax on the Zetterlund gripes. Coaches are superstitious too and as long as we are winning there is no point rushing him up the lineup, especially since Perron has just started to figure things out and Amadio just had one of his best games in a while.

I want to see him as much as the next guy but no issue easing him in and let him learn our system in a sheltered role. Remember how we all thought our boys had to have the DJ coached out of them? Zetterlund has been playing on a bottom feeder his entire career. All things considered, what Green is doing is a perfectly acceptable way to motivate him and get him to buy in to what he has achieved with this group.

Cozens?

I have seen flashes in Zetterlund. He is a bull out there. One shift against Detroit he disrupted their offence and kept the puck alive for a full 2 seconds allowing Ottawa to take back control.

I get easing him into the games, but at this point I want to see him out there on one of the top 2 lines for a full game.

I don’t think the team has looked as sharp as they should be and we’ve relied on some solid goaltending of late, and clutch late scoring.

The lines may be working, but barely. I think we are better off trying to improve our play as opposed to simply accepting the status quo.

Sometimes you have to change things up to keep a streak going.

That 4th line is getting caved.

Yep, I was thinking Grieg dropping to the 4th line has some merit, but he is playing all over, and in all big situations. Greens Swiis Army knife. Would be tough to drop him down. Ammo makes the most sense, he is playing very well with Pinto and Grieg though. Possibly Perron, another guy who has been picking it up of late.

Nice to have 10 legit forwards to fit into the top 9.

Highmore and Gaudette are a bit weak as 4th liners though. Was hoping Staios would add a solid 4th line guy at the deadline.

Greig-Pinto-Amadio is not going to be tampered with at all anytime soon.

Cousins-Pinto-Amadio was our best line during our amazing December winning streak. And now Greig has been one of our most dependable players. That line is remaining intact 1000% as it should.

We need to find somewhere for Zetterlund to play.

Not sure what line to mess with.

The Batherson one?

Yeah demote Perron to line 4. He can be the playmaker for Gaudette while Zetterlund is the shooter on line 2.

To be honest, but Green won't have the balls, put Batherson on the 4th line. Perron has been much better.

Batherson has been atrocious and was yet again today. Lost every single puck battle. I would rotate Perron and Bath on that 4th line.

Tkachuk-Stutzle-Giroux
Zetterlund-Cozens-Perron
Greig-Pinto-Amadio
Highmore-Gaudette-Batherson

I guarantee you all Batherson is gone in the off-season unless something changes. I feel like he is playing with a heartbreak or something weighing heavy on his mind. He is absolutely not ok.

He does have 10 points in last 13 games, though. But something is up with the guy.

Don't disagree except the operative word is winning. Yes barely, but that doesn't change the fact that we are winning and that it's just two games. If it lasts much longer I will be in full agreement, especially if there's a loss. But two or three games of a specific and intentional ease in program is just fine.

What a lot of people overlook is that professional organizations set a program and avoid deviating from it. Green has a plan and who am I to question it after two games? Especially when all factors are taken into account.

But yeah, he'll be moved up soon enough, no question.

Also, Cozens was absolutely fantastic.

Sanderson again carried.

Greig was our best player outside of Sanderson. Depth will help us and it has this season in a big way.

Forsberg let in a softie first goal but rounded out nicely to end the game. Second goal was meh too. Although he never really faced much difficulty. Defense did a great job for the most part.

Mantipalo should never come out. Ever. Not only is he a plus positive, but he makes Kleven play like himself. Don't get why we would ever tamper with that.

Our achilles heel in previous years was depth. Our 3rd line is most often our best line nowadays. But that 2nd line need tweaking as it could be a serious detriment. They playing well and winning so I understand keeping them together.

But we cannot ignore being outplayed 2 games in a row. Feels like Green is using the NYR game/performance as benchmark for keeping those lines

Like someone said, I wish we added another asset to the 4th like. Trading a 5th rounder or something.

Lol ur crazy

That Pinto line has been saving our ass lately. They are really good together and Amadio has been very good. This is exactly why he’s here. He’s a reliable low maintenance player. Very underrated. He’s scored huge goals lately.

This is making it tough for Zetterlund to get into the top 6. Perron has been playing great, and Giroux there’s no way he’s moving to the 4th line. I don’t epect to see Zetterlund in the top 6 until we lose a game … at which point I’m not aure who you move down.

shout out to @Relapsing for a 10/10 title for the GDT

Don't forget about Cousins.

Perron bad at 5v5 last night. He couldn’t really keep up. He’s shown to be useful on the PP, but at even strength, I don’t think he’s a top 6 player. He hasn’t been all year.

The Pinto line wasn’t good either.

Green kept them together going into yesterday because the combos had done well in the two previous games.

But that turned against Detroit, so you probably should do something different tonight.

Zetterlund has much more speed and jam than either of those guys.
Zetterlund has played two games, very small sample size, but I saw nothing from him at all in the two games, not seeing why he would deserve anything yet. Perron we know what he is capable of, Zetterlund not at all yet. Bottom line is they are winning & they have won two games with the same lineup & with Zetterlund on the 4th line, I don't see a reason to change that yet. You can blame the coach & lots of people on here will but I don't see why he deserves anything at this point, he is barely noticeable, Highmore has played better & been more noticeable.

Sure, but there have to be better options for him to play with on the 4th line. Pretty sure Highmore will make it through waivers, so get Reinhart and/or Halliday up, or Crookshank. And let's get Cousins into a hyperbaric chamber and get him healed!!

Reinhart/Crookshank - Pinto - Amadio
Reinhart/Crookshank - Greig - Zetterlund

Has to be better options. Gaudette was f***ing terrible (outside of his pass to Amadio) and Highmore not much better (outside of his goal-saving dive and deflection - which only came about because the 4thnline was getting caved in...again!).

I would move Perron down or Amadio. That fourth line is terrible honestly. I wouldn't trust them in the playoffs. I would however trust Zetterlund in the playoffs, to play key minutes.
Perron and amadio are both playing their best hockey of the season.

Ideally we just don’t have gaudette. Unforntately we traded our other fourth line center.
