I for sure thought patterson would be a cut candidate
To be fair, with the crappy Tomlin forced offense who cares who the quarterback is?
I just wonder why they paid so much for a wide receiver that stretches the field when to Tomlin stretching the field means throwing an entire five yards down field.
He will fit right inSo gainwell is mid?
Of course, that’s bogus gum-flapping from the on-camera members of the “Tomlin Defense Foundation” at all of the NFL national network partners and many league-wide print/online publications.
All of them play an illogical game where they twist themselves into a pretzel by trying to absolve Tomlin from any blame about how his rosters have been constructed, yet they simultaneously throw rose petals at his feet for being a maestro with a firm hand on the baton at all times keeping the orchestra together.
Tomlin has his finger on the pulse of everything that goes on in that organization’s football operations — regardless of whether the national media only acknowledges that when it’s convenient to their narrative of Tomlin’s infallibility.
I really don't get what people are upset about with Khan. There was nothing they could have done this offseason to change their outlook for 2025. Everything is about setting things up to draft a QB in 2026. They will have a still young, cheap, but experienced OL with Jones-McCormick-Frazier-?-Fautanu. Potentially 2 WR1 if they keep Pickens. A good receiving TE. We'll see who they end up with at RB. They will hopefully have a ton of picks to move up in R1 next year to get their guy at QB. It's as good of a situation for a young QB to walk into that we could hope for...apart from the coaching staff that is living in the 70's, but that's not going to change while AR2 is still here.
I can't give Khan too much credit until he sticks the landing, but there at least seems to be a long term plan instead of desperate moves to try and win in 2025.
Ehh I’m not even mad about the Rudolph news. He’s a decent backup QB who at this point probably realizes that’s all he is.

Agreed. The only thing I will say, though, I like Khan being disciplined in negotiations when it comes to mediocre players like Fields, but he can't play hardball when it comes to important pieces like the QB of the future. Like if they end up missing out on their guy because the other team wanted a 3rd in the package and Khan was only willing to offer a 4th or something stupid like that, I will be furious. That's why I'm not willing to give him too much credit until he follows through with the plan.I like that he remains firm on what he offers guys, actually. I would have loved to see Fields back, but if we can all remember being in cap hell. That will derail something good faster than anything else can.
I think Khan and Weidl have built an elite offensive line. THe move to left is going to be big for Jones, Fautanu is going to be a massive help. McCormick and Frazier having an offseason and ayear under their belt is going to be great for them, and Seumalo is playing for a contact. I also like our LB corps outside of TJ. Highsmith, Wilson, and Herbig are 3/4 awesome starting caliber LBs. I think Porter is a great #2 CB. Benton is a really nice start for a new DL that should be added to in a big way this draft.
They don't have a QB or a RB. That's the crux of the issue and has been since Ben and Bell weren't playing together. This has been going on 6 years. If they can land a game breaking RB, that would make the QB situation way better. Najee is the most average RB I may have ever seen.
It's certainly an optimistic perspective but if they didn't feel like they had the pieces yet, why trade for and sign DK to an extremely rich contract? He'll be 30 by the time they could contend and that second could be your next starting DL. Why not flip some vets for futures like Seattle is doing?I really don't get what people are upset about with Khan. I think based on the little I've read is issue is they'd be hit with a lot of dead cap regardless and at that point why not just keep the guy in case Penix struggles.I understand the NFL salary cap as well as nuclear physics.
So can someone explain what barriers the Falcons and Steelers would have in terms of trading Kirk Cousins from a salary cap perspective?
If the cap worked out, what would you give up for him?
Expectations for what? As much as we argue about the differences between Fields, Wilson, Rodgers, Darnold, etc., none of them will make a difference. The Metcalf move was made for 2026 as much...nay, more so...for 2026 than 2025. If people can't see that, it's on them.I think trading for Metcalf gave a lot of people big expectations which then haven't come true. Throw in the eternally sour and that's plenty of people.
I am going to wait and see. But if they manage to come away with good comp picks for 2026 and use that on getting a really good QB prospect, that's got to be applauded.

But yes, you're right. Many of the people bitching would bitch about anything they did.
in pro sports you can't have a long memory. you need to forget and move on, there are far more important things. imoBe extremely surprised if Mason wanted back. Seemed like he was annoyed with Tomlin
Because they are building. You can't just all of a sudden sign and draft a championship caliber team in 1 year. You need pieces in place and a WR1 is a pretty important piece. DK gives them insurance in case Pickens falls apart and if they keep Pickens, it gives them a killer WR duo for a young QB to throw to.It's certainly an optimistic perspective but if they didn't feel like they had the pieces yet, why trade for and sign DK to an extremely rich contract? But why would MR come back to a place where Tomlin treated him like garbage and he knows the offensive philosophy is outdated?
Also note that it says the STEELERS reached out to MR- not the other way around.
