Don’t see Ottawa moving a first to unload ZaitsevMontreal has plenty of room on D, Guhle with a nasty knee injury recently.
Don't think the Habs need the cap space next year anyways.
A first is needed for sure for a year and a half of Zaitsev at that cap hit. Top 10 protected. The Monahan deal basically (6 millions for a year).
Probably other bad teams like Anaheim/Chicago/Columbus/Detroit could accept to get Zaitsev for that mid/late 1st.
I think Ottawa dumps Zaitsev to make room for Chychrun.
My guess is they have to dump his contract fast in order to make room for Chychrun.Don’t see Ottawa moving a first to unload Zaitsev
The Lou Lamoriello special. Hand out bloated contracts to depth players with the knowledge that someone else will have to deal with them in the future!Another Maple Leafs gem of a contract.
It solves the problem of his no trade clause, not the problem of the value it takes to move on from him.
If they get chychrun. Zaitsev is heading back to Arizona. My guess is they have to dump his contract fast in order to make room for Chychrun.
Other teams are probably interested so they need to make that happen soon
I don't think a team take that contract right now for under a mid 1st value.

It is one year and a half, not one year. If they want Chychrun, they need to act now, not this summer.if some one hopes sens trade first ... pls dont watch no more nhl..
4.5 1 year contract max cost is second round pick ... normal cost is 3-4 round or maybe one prospect ( not bright future)
Ever heard about that Chychrun guy?Unless it’s a larger deal to bring in a legit top 4 D who can play the right side there is zero chance the Sens will trade their 1st in order to simply dump Zaitsev.
I mean honestly people.
You say it’s your guess that Ottawa needs to move Zaitsev right away to add Chychrun. My guess is they have to dump his contract fast in order to make room for Chychrun.

Instead of guessing, why wouldn’t you just look it up and see that Ottawa absolutely can add Chychrun without dumping Zaitsev?
Could it be that it’s not a “guess” as much as it is a “desire”?
I think a 2nd will get rid of Zaitsev contract.Ever heard about that Chychrun guy?
My guess is Ottawa wants to show DeBrincat they are serious about contending in order to get him to sign long term. The only way to do that is to get a top 4 D for that defense.
Step 1. You dump Zaitsev for the cheapest possible (I think a 1st will be needed, but I could be wrong).
Step 2. You get Chychrun that is already signed for cheap for 2 mores years for futures (1st, 2nd, Boucher, Branstrom/other roster player)
Step 3. You sign DeBrincat long term.
Now you show to all the suitors that want to buy the team that it is competitive and ready to contend.
The value is the issue, not the no trade clause. It clearly doesn't solve whichever problem the Senators want to solve or else they would do that instead of offering up a pick or prospect to move him, is the point.
Your entire 2nd paragraph is, by definition, not at all "right away".Sens are not a cap team.
And DeBrincat will cost a lot more than 6.5 millions next year. Shane Pinto off ELC as well. Zaitsev must go to get Chychrun AND keep DeBrincat, even if they become 100% a cap team.
