Only explanation I can think of is a "showcase" for other teams.
I'm thinking that their mindset is that if he gets the W that clinches the playoffs, he'll get some confidence or whatever.

I'd honestly be 100% more comfortable with Schmid starting again, even after the start last night.

Headline for @Bleedred:

"Blackwood leads Devils back to the playoffs"
Let's see how long that lasts for.

Remember when Schneider took over in the playoffs in 2018? How long did that good play last for?

It's not a great example because Cory was GREAT in that series and we were already down 2-0 when he took over, but my point is that he didn't look any good after that series.

I expect the same shit to happen to Blackwood if he finds himself in there during the playoffs.

Remember, BAD GOALIES AREN'T BAD EVERY GAME! It's a myth that a bad goalie has to be bad every game in order to actually be bad, but many still believe it. Jonathan Quick before his trade to Vegas was the closest thing to that and he even has 2 shutouts this year.

We've seen 36 year old accountants with no pro experience come into games and stop all 7 shots they've faced.

We saw a 42 or 43 year old zamboni driver come in and allow just 2 goals on 10 shots to the Leafs and one of those goals was a 5 on 3.

There's this belief that bad goalies are never good for any game or they're not bad. And there's also this belief that if you stuck a non-NHL goalie in net during an NHL game that he's gonna get beat on every other shot. We've seen that this isn't true, though in very sample size, because it hasn't happened often.

LOL this reminds me of how people tried to make it a feel good story that Steve Trachsel and his 5 ERA got to pitch the division clincher for the Mets in 2006…yeah it was feel good all right, right up until he predictably spit the bit in the playoffs and never pitched for the team again

My wife and I had an argument about Colin White. I said he looked like hell.

She said if used Just for Men and lost a couple of pounds he'd look fine. I laughed.
He was at the point of ''Needing to lose a couple of pounds'' in his playing days. I can't share too much but his conditioning was a HUGE problem with the Sharks. He was terribly out of shape when he showed up there and stayed very out of shape the entire season. Everybody knew about it over there.

He was probably already in that kind of shape the last he played here when he was one of the worst players on the 10-11 team, which was a team that was loaded with career worst performances.

Not shaming his weight, but just talking standpoint, he was in poor and rough shape the last he was on an NHL ice rink playing against NHL players.

Will be important down the stretch to manage ice time and have guys ready come playoffs.

So I'm really glad that we're forcing forwards to double shift tonight to play 7 defensemen
