Conspiracy time:

As his last f*** you to the city and fan base, Eugene Melnyk left specific instructions for his daughters and estate to make the sale of sens the longest and drawn out, blue ball process ever known to pro sports. Make sure it’s hyped for months and the fan base gets its hope raised with the prospect of having A list celebs potentially involved, only for those hopes to be dashed when it eventually gets sold to another Toronto based barely pharmaceutical billionaire with the lowest bid.

I mean I wouldn’t put it past him. We put up billboards and embarrassed him in front of all the other owners and I know a lot of us were secretly celebrating when we found out the team was no longer his

Conspiracy time:

Neko Sparks is an actor hired by Pierre Dorion to drag out the sales process long enough so that the eventual new owners don't have time to replace Dorion and DJ before the season starts.
My best conspiracy theory is…. That Neko Sparks and Dorion are actually the same person!!!!

No idea how that benefits this Neko Sparkion hybrid-person, I just know that the mainstream media isn’t reporting it. What are they hiding?

Dorion was so tired of the last owner always meddling in his job. So he figured if he was the owner it wouldn't be a problem.

I'll see your conspiracy and raise you another: Neko Sparks is on this forum right now. Any one of you could be Neko Sparks, and we'd be none the wiser.

Neko Sparks is actually just late-90's hit maker Lou Bega. This attempt to buy the Sens is really just designed to reboot Mambo No. 5 for zoomers. Don't believe me?

Ya, I don't find it surprising that the idea could be on the table, I would just think it would impact the price. Kanata is always going to be a struggle.
I looked at it from a return on investment perspective. If they build a new arena, how long would it take to pay it off? If a desired outcome was to increase attendance, then how much would attendance and revenue increase, and how long would the amortization timeline be to recoup the costs to build the arena?

Good question. I don't really have the knowledge to provide much for valuable feedback, I just sort of assumed that a team committed to staying out in Kanata has a hard ceiling on its viability and would be more like a 500 million franchise than a billion.

I mean if Kimel and Andlauer are attempting to join that would explain the length of this

But still, this is getting silly

Two interesting points in the new Bruce article. Said Steve A would be the less with heavily leverage depth of the four. A source told him that not good idea to merge with another bid to buy the team, until you really want it. Not a fan of Kypreos, but will see. Now I cheer for Steve A

League sources told Postmedia officials at New York-based Galatioto Sports Partners (GSP) were hunkered down at their Manhattan offices again Thursday and if there’s not a preferred bidder before the Memorial Day weekend starts Friday then this could take until next week.

While the four bidders in the process to purchase the Senators are waiting to see which group will come out as the winner, all are confident they’ll be chosen by GSP, the Melnyk estate and the National Hockey League to lead this team into the future.

Also from that article, “If there’s not a preferred bidder before the Memorial Day weekend starts Friday then this could take until next week.”

A source said Wednesday the Kimels and Andlauer may explore a merger to buy the Senators if they don’t feel they can beat the highest bid. There’s a belief they’ve had discussions about that possibility in the past.

But someone familiar with these kinds of business deals scoffed at the idea unless Andlauer and the Kimels are desperate.

The person, speaking on the condition of anonymity, noted the Senators are already going for a record price at $1 billion and that would mean shelling out even more cash.

“I don’t get why you would team up,” said the source. “There’s no value in teaming up to buy something that you may believe you’ve overpaid.

“The only way you would team up is if you desperately want it and you don’t care what the price is that you’re paying and you don’t have the capital to do it yourself.”

Pretty much confirmed that Apostolopoulos is the 1B$ bid.

Would make sense why this is dragging on if the Kimmels and Andlauer are completely rebuilding their bids as one merged bid.

2 outcomes here

Apostolopoulos Family.

Kimmel + Andlauer merger.

Sued? For what reason? This is the sale of a private business. The process can be run however the Melnyk family and NHL want, and they can sell to whoever they want.

They could have sold to someone without allowing anyone else to bid, if that's what they had wanted to do.
Not when it’s an estate sale. No they could not have sold to whomever they want.
