Laine on Ovechkin hitting him "I think I won't ever wash this jersey"

Pretty sure Laine hasn't washed any clothes in his life anyway so that won't be a big news.

Haha, just saw the replay of Barkov's "interference" on Ovechkin... let's just say that that might've been Ovi's best performance today!

Would have been nice to see a replay of that one, also would have liked to see a replay of Koskinen's save (?) in the final minute. Looked like an unbelievable stop live.

Another embarrassing performance by the Russians on home ice. No excuses this time around. Finland was the better team. Russian team was stacked and loses again. Canada/USA and other nations have their B or C teams. Pathetic hockey played by Russia.

Russians don't have to hand their heads too much...It was a pretty good game. Suomi is tough to play against. Are u forgetting 4-0 already?

I think Russia will beat the United States tomorrow and at the World Cup, but its unlikely that they can beat any of the others.

Funny how your tune changes after Russia lays another egg on home ice. Embarrassing performance against Finland. You were arguing that Russia was better than Canada a few months ago. They have not won a single Best on Best tournament since the first World Cup of Hockey in 1996. .

Canada, Finland and the USA are the top three Hockey Nations right now (that order can be argued though). Russia has great individual talent, but for some reason cannot get it done as a team. Russia should win Bronze. It would be a total disaster if they do not.

I don't know, I feel like a school yard bully if it happens by a superstar of theirs getting off his game and Finns then totally usurping that and heating him up to boiling. Ovi was fuming up there already on the 2nd. It's kind of awesome and a good sing for the rest of the game but I feel like ******* for laughing.

It sure seems like the Finns have Russia's number right now and has gotten into the heads of some of their superstars.

You have Canada's C team playing right now. I expected that. Finland will win Gold. Hoping Canada can at least medal. I did not have high expectations for this team, unlike the Russians who failed on home ice again.

So conspiracy theory about non-showing replay raises like a phoenix.

Americans have always been less motivated to play in IHWC than any other team.

Sweden is clearly better than Finland. The US has more talent but they are the most underperforming national team in the sport.

Hmmm.... Kinda interesting game. First period Russians had a chance to win the game but Koskinen stood up. Second period was kinda tight but Finns were able to capitalize their chances. Third period Russians weren't able to even produce descent scoring chances...

And couple of words of our young "superstar" Laine. First period was the worst he played all tournament. He couldn't do anything right. A little bit of excitement maybe? Second period was maybe the best he played so far. He made none mistakes and played "easy" game and what a pass! At third period he merely played. It's gonna be a great day tomorrow!

They won't be today...they'll be flying...arch nemesis, cross border rivalry, little brother syndrome, David vs Goliath, Miracle sound bytes in their ears...take ur pick...

But they'll still lose in the end...unless Talbot has another meltdown...then maybe, MAYBE it'll come right down to the wire...

Congrats to Finland, no question that they were in fact the better team. Home ice had nothing to do with it. They are just better, and that usually translates into victory. Finnish teams consistently beat Russia - it has been a pattern for the past decade. In my opinion, Finland earns the title of best hockey country in the World on a per capita basis. Canada relies on numbers, but there are some things that Finland just does better, and it shows on the ice.

When you say that Russia was "stacked," I am assuming that you don't follow Russian hockey much. There were the usual few NHL add-ons (this year, the only top players were Ovechkin, Datsyuk, and, if you can call him that, Kuznetsov), but you are failing to take into account Lyubimov, Telegin, Plotnikov, Sannikov, Marchenko, etc, all totally out of place in a setting crowded with World-class stars. Also, the failure of Bobrovsky to make big saves was a huge factor! Finland definitely had the superior lineup, and it showed in the results. In the first and third periods, I actually thought Russia played pretty well.

I expect and hope that Finland will beat Canada tomorrow, and if they do, I am the one that you will hear cheering the loudest. I know that it sounds like I'm ruling out the United States, but in fact I am. Just don't see any chance of them advancing with their lineup. SOUMI!!!

This is actually Finlands D-team so guess we are awesome thank you welcome!:help:

Everyone from Canada has had positive impressions of the way this tourney was hosted so I dunno what you're on about. If u don't like music maybe u should watch it on mute ;)

Ok, let's calm down here. You, people, can't take a joke. 1939 was for Finnish guys, not against Russians. It was dark humour.

who's the little brother in this case?

No he wouldn't be. You guys would be hoping Laine would be next Ovechkin as you are now.

I guess I should just let go of this. Finns won and they are celebrating. I just wish there would be a bit more pride of their own team and a bit less taking shots at the other. But none of my business so I will just bow out of the thread by saying well done Finland in an entertaining and good match.
agreed.

I don't understand this " we have C team playing in this tournament" talk. Still Canada has very talented team in this tournament. In paper they beat Finlands team. So whats the deal about that?

Bracing yourself for a possible loss.

I think its just ridicilous safety *****ing incase they lose, no team has their A-team here except maybe some countries like Hungary. All teams have what they have and should just do the best with that not explain about how it could be better...
