Congrats Suomi !

Good game by Russia.
imo Andrei Vasilevskiy played great. Only let in 1 on a rebound that wasn't cleared. Malkin looked good on the point at the end. Russia lost by 1 goal in the semi's. Please don't get too depressed about this loss comrades, this is why they play the games and we love to watch (it's never a sure thing).

The Finns beat Canada 3-1.

That means precisely dick in the group games.. Canada tensds to sleepwalk the first halfway of the tournament. Doesn't matter if it's the best-on-best of IIHF WC, same thing always

That said, I think Czech republic has good chance to win Canada today. They seem to have similar spirit on the team:popcorn:

Some NHL teams may want to have a closer look on Lehtonen. He has been splendid throughout the tournament and his performance tonight was rock solid. Really calm with the puck and surprisingly physical when needed.
Some NHL teams may want to have a look at Marko Anttila, he's clearly clutch, can PK and he's like 6'8" which gets even plugs some ice time.

I think the Russia needs to get Finland out of their heads just like Finland needs to get Sweden out of their heads

Finland plays like **** vs weaker team but played a unbelievable match vs stronger opponents.
Because it's underdog hockey. It's annoying vs these weaker teams but I guess it's fine if it allows Finland to overachieve vs the stronger ones.

Russian coach VOROBYOV was terrible, and insisted on the worst line combinations I have ever seen.

He sends out ANISIMOV with the best Russian wingers, Gusev+Kucherov. ANISIMOV isn't going to get it done against the better defensive teams, as I pointed out in the Russia thread MULTIPLE times.

This incompetent buffoon Vorobyov sends out MALKIN with that PLUG named GRIGORENKO all tournament long, that PLUG named GRIGORENKO who couldn't even hack it in the NHL on bad teams and had to go back to Europe.

Malkin+Grigorenko combined for one ES point all tournament, yet this terrible coach VOROBYOV kept them together until the final whistle.

MALKIN+KUCHEROV were dangerous together every second they got to touch the ice together. Same with Gusev. None of these combos was tried all tournament long.

This TERRRIBLE coach VOROBYOV deserves to lose. Way to score ZERO goals with an all-world roster against a team with what, zero NHL skaters? Hilarious!

Congratulations FINLAND, you were the better team. And you showed the terrible coach Vorobyov the error of his ways. I couldn't stomach the thought of this all-star Russian roster carrying such an incompetent buffon to a gold medal. No thanks.

Hopefully we see some real lines tomorrow. Meaning Gusev+Kucherov with Malkin, for starters. I won't hold my breath with this moron running the show, however.
The Swedish and Russian coaches should have some skype conversations. They see hockey the same ways it seems.

Bronze medal game would be good. Russia vs. Canada. Probably 6-1 Canada.

I have never, ever, ever, EVER seen Russia play so ****ty. Everybody was absolutely atrocious. From coaches to Malkin. And not just the absence of any tactics (we've seen that before). But individual skills are all out the window. Terrible passes, horrendous puck control, but worst of all: absolutely worst possible decisions with and without the puck in every situation. Shame.

It's like Russia had it too easy, winning every game. 40 gf 10 ga. They weren't prepared for the intensity finns offered.
