I have never, ever, ever, EVER seen Russia play so ****ty. Everybody was absolutely atrocious. From coaches to Malkin. And not just the absence of any tactics (we've seen that before). But individual skills are all out the window. Terrible passes, horrendous puck control, but worst of all: absolutely worst possible decisions with and without the puck in every situation. Shame.
That's what this Finnish team does to you. Their constant hounding and 100% buying a system make the opposing team look like garbage. And if you have a really passive coach, like both Sweden and Russia have, you have a big problem.

With an active, smart coach, Finland wouldn't walk over them like this.

You have to give Finns some credit. They fought like dogs chasing every puck even after lost battles taking the usual little time there is out of the hands of the Russians. As soon as the Finns scored they let off just a little bit and it was all one way after that when the Russians had that fraction of more time they usually have.

Finns won against the Swedes and the Russians. Taking all credit away from them is not on. That is an underdog team with clearly inferior even far inferior talent fighting to the last. Well almost, since they let go for the last 10 minutes of this game.

Like I said yesterday, the Russians with their superior talent came ready to lose against Finland, as they usually do on the games that count

Russian coach VOROBYOV was terrible, and insisted on the worst line combinations I have ever seen.

He sends out ANISIMOV with the best Russian wingers, Gusev+Kucherov. ANISIMOV isn't going to get it done against the better defensive teams, as I pointed out in the Russia thread MULTIPLE times.

This incompetent buffoon Vorobyov sends out MALKIN with that PLUG named GRIGORENKO all tournament long, that PLUG named GRIGORENKO who couldn't even hack it in the NHL on bad teams and had to go back to Europe.

Malkin+Grigorenko combined for one ES point all tournament, yet this terrible coach VOROBYOV kept them together until the final whistle.

MALKIN+KUCHEROV were dangerous together every second they got to touch the ice together. Same with Gusev. None of these combos was tried all tournament long.

This TERRRIBLE coach VOROBYOV deserves to lose. Way to score ZERO goals with an all-world roster against a team with what, zero NHL skaters? Hilarious!

Congratulations FINLAND, you were the better team. And you showed the terrible coach Vorobyov the error of his ways. I couldn't stomach the thought of this all-star Russian roster carrying such an incompetent buffon to a gold medal. No thanks.

Hopefully we see some real lines tomorrow. Meaning Gusev+Kucherov with Malkin, for starters. I won't hold my breath with this moron running the show, however.

Getting used to this. Never Finland playing their game to the maximum, always the other team playing bad.

Let's ****in go!!!!
Finland played their game well for sure but a neutral is always going to judge the more talented team in analysis first. Russia had no compete in them at all today. They should be embarrassed to call themselves pros with the lack of intensity or desire they showed today.

This was no walk over...this was sisu.

I thought Kaprizov looked good, the rest not so much.
