Russia out-worked them by quite a bit and played smarter. Hard to win if you're on the wrong end of that. Felt that Sweden was blessed to make it this far with pretty much a power play-only approach. Oh well, good game.

Yeah very skilled by Russia not to take many penalties. That sure helped them a lot. Very nicely done.

last time we played Canada in the final game...this happened.

Result aside, that was a hell of a hockey game. If Canada takes care of the Slovaks, here's hoping for a similar game (but different outcome). :handclap:

Barbashev and Buchnevich are extremely underrated players.

Barbashev is a great pick by St Louis to get him in the 2nd rd. I had him going in the first rd last year. He was very hungry today, wanted the puck and was on it like a dog on a bone.

******* Was hoping a lot more from our team but I think we were to afraid of losing instead of wanting to win.

Anyway Congratz to Russia and so on, hopefully team Canada will go crazy and we will at least have a fun final to watch.

Well Nylander is a great player BUT as someone just mentioned in some Semifinals Stats 0+0 in games that really matters sends signal that he is not really working
his ass off ! I dont know ....

Good perspective coming from a Swede.

I saw No desperation in Nylander's game. Look at Barbashev play, he was on the puck like dog on a bone. He wanted the puck. Nylander looked like he was out for a Sunday walk in the park. Great talent, but even great talents need to try, get dirty.

In spite of his gaffe in the last shift the big defenseman Paigin for Russia was really solid in this game. He gets to play a regular shift in Kazan and it showed in this game with his mature play. And he scored a goal in the PP.

I hope that Paigin can reach the level of Ilya Nikulin who is his mentor in Kazan. They are build similarly and play similar style.

Sweden played good whole tournament. But I still think that fitness is a factor. Bragin knows how to bring the team to the peak of physical form to the end of the tournament. He did the same in 2011. Sweden players just were pretty tired. This is Gronborg failure. Other than this Sweden is still very strong team. Good luck in next match.

Very feisty and complete performance by Russia. I want to raise my glass and drink a toast to the guys who people said shouldn't be there, but instead were an important part of advancing to the GMG - Leschenko, Sharov, Mamin, Golyshev, Dergachyov, Paiygin, Shestyorkin and others. Whatever happens tomorrow, what a magnificent effort today against a very talented and classy team like Sweden!

Top players need to step up in big games.

I believe it DOES say something.

(and yes, I'm a Leafs fan)

There's not been a player in the history of the sport who has stepped up in every big game. We're talking about two games here. By that sample size, Eric Fehr is better than Gretzky as soon as he get to play NHL games outdoors.

Players not having produced when their teams play awful is not exactly something new.

Just look at Chicago. Kane and Toews have both had underwhelming series. Why is this not talked about? Because it's small sample size, and they answered that with great series.

I'm also not sure why semi-finals count as big games and not quarter finals. A quarter final against an arch rival qualifies as a big game to me, and Nylander had two points in that game. Artificially limiting the sample size to make what he's done look worse, don't fall for it.

Result aside, that was a hell of a hockey game. If Canada takes care of the Slovaks, here's hoping for a similar game (but different outcome). :handclap:

I just hope it doesn't turn out to be the Grand Forks final game, so much hype Ovechkin and Malkin vs Canada and we got destroyed.

We have to contain the initial storm by Canada, they always go 200% at the home ice in the first 10-15 minutes. If we don't let more than 1 goal in, we are in the game

Let the Nylander hate begin...yet people will not even mention how bad the rest of the team is. But hey around here Nylander is now considered the worst prospect around now. One bad game and now he's a bust. LMFAO.

Oh please, don't be dramatic and inaccurate. People were trashing the whole Swedish team in this thread, not just Nylander, so don't act like it's some kind of absurd, unfair criticism. He had a bad game, it happens, deal with it. Leaf fans can't pump the kid up CONSTANTLY in every Sweden thread and praise him for the tiniest things all day long and then get defensive when he gets criticized for the first time in the tournament. Playing the victim as if the whole website automatically hates Leaf prospects is just ridiculous, you have to expect people to get sick and tired of the constant hyping of a player so when that player does something bad people are going to want to point that out too. Otherwise it's just a one sided circle-jerk.
