Great d on goal, 2 guys in front of net, neither took the scorer. i see swedes know how to do this also.

Have you looked at the map?

Haha yes I have. I didn't know if there was more to it. But I can definitely understand based on the Canada/USA rivarlies. CAN/US is more evident in the olympics though (ie. 2002 and 2010 gold medal games, and 2014 semi finals).

Swedes aren't playing at all like they have in the other games. Too slow, too much playing for themselves instead of using eachother.

No Pp goal but that one was refs bad call momentum. Kempe did not interfered. He sttod still

This is the way we can beat Sweden. Kids are shut down hard by the swedes. We need Kapanen-Hintz-Rantanen to decide this game.

Swedes 1 - refs 1

Finland has been the better team this period, but cmon refs, that was a brutal penalty.

Finns seems untouchable for drawing penalties.

Question:

Why is Sweden and Finland considered to be top rivals?
- Is it because they are both European teams?
- Both top 5 hockey nations who always play competitively against each other?
- Was there a particular game/series where they become hated rivals?

Either way, as a fan of the game I LOVE watching these two teams play.

(PS. I am asking from the standpoint of a North American)

Finland has belonged to Sweden during most of history, even though they are different people genetically. Swedes come from the Germanic/Scandinavian tribes and the Finns come from the Mongols. Finland got their liberty 100 years ago or so, never liking that that the Swedes ruled their lands.

But now we are friends...but the past is still there nagging, especially for the Finns. They learn Swedish in school still, which it seems like no Finns actually likes (which is understandable).
