No doubt Sweden were screwed with that 2 + 10 call but Finland sure to hell surprised me. I thought Sweden would win this game without much trouble. Sweden just seemed to lose the jump they had in the first period.

Congrats Finland and even though I usually cheer for the US (after Canada) I'm rooting for Finland to win Gold. Love their character, never say die attitude and of course win it for Teemu Selänne.

The first PP when Kempe got updrom the ice and fin player ran into him Kempe got 2minor was ever worse
 
Huge upset based on performance in the previous games. Look at that third period. The Swedish offensive game just completely crumbled away. Finland, with one of the weakest defenses and goalkeeping in the tournament, managed to shut them down. A lot of these Finn players are very responsible defensively in Liiga, so it was weird that the team was doing so badly in that department, and then this. Completely unexpected.
 
Bad winners and worse losers. Grow up guys.

Sweden missed Nylander too much, too little gamebreaking ability today.
 
The refs were pretty good today. No big mistakes, except one. Pretty normal that there is at least one mistake in game.

All and all, it was Swedes poor performance in the attacking zone why they lost.

Maybe the future U20 stars of Sweden will learn to watch where they are skating then. No pain, no gain.

50% self caused injury. Not the best excuse for loosing a match later. Especially when injuries happen in every sport.

In a 10 game series, I'm sure we'd win 7/10. But today we played our worst game of the tournament and deserved to lose.
 
Finland's top 6 and PP were just too much to contain for the Swedes. However, the total lack of puck movement from Finland's defense is going to be a major problem against the American (if they make it through) forecheck just like it was against Canada.

You could tell the Swedes were missing the focal point in their offense attack in William Nylander. They were able to cycle and create chances but they really just appeared to lack that gamebreaker. Plus it didn't help that Finland's goalie has played amazing ever since coming in for relief against Canada last game.

Congrats to Finland for getting a Gold or Silver on their home turf!
 
Finns did it with the two PP. Swedes got tired. Solid game by both before those teo freebee PP

Come on, right on the draw starting the third period? Don't even go there.

This game finns won by two goals scored on two very weak calls by the refs and after that their game was all about trapping and defence first. Fair enough. I say it was not the most convincing win in the tournament but still a win. Be fair finns. Now Go USA!!

Interesting who is better than W. Nylander then? All NHL scouts are eagerly wanting to know. Despite that phony post. One player does not determine the outcome, even if it would have mattered in a thigh game as this one.... Well ok it did matter, but things are as they are now.

Well anyhow, teams were equally matched - good for them - but then it is even more important to have good reffing.

I would say that if refs are weak (as in this case and expected with a German ref with empirically low but expected standard ) then they should hold a lower profile and call less. Ok, game will get rougher which might be bad, but at least the weakness in the reffing will not show as much as when inexperienced refs interfere in a decisive and wrong way as happened now.

As it is now Finland is of course happy that they won. But they could have won without the lousy reffing and feeling even better about it. For my part I would have felt better about it if Finland had scored despite the ****** calls (mostly the Karlsson one). That would have been likely, so it is not fair fetched. But the refs did not let Finland do it, which should give everyone a bad taste.
 
Pretty even first two periods. Weak 3rd by Swe (and boring to watch). And although the refs weren't great, they didn't destroy the game with countless penalties as in many other games this WJC.
