Congrats Finland! Very happy for you and your HF posters! Sorry Sweden. You have an amazing team here. Maybe see you tomorrow. On paper.. Sweden. But I don't think that matters. This is going to OT. Czechs play one of you tomorrow so I hope you go to war on each other. Finish every check. Block every shot. Push after every whistle. Leave nothing behind!
I have no idea who wins. Brain is Sweden. Hearts says Finland. So go hockey!
You are not taught domestic history in Sweden (it is a forbidden topic). It is somewhat bothersome to me that most people (at least the swedes) are completely in the dark about this shared history.
Best of luck tonight!Congrats Finland! Very happy for you and your HF posters! Sorry Sweden. You have an amazing team here. Maybe see you tomorrow.
Sweating buckets right now. And thank you.Best of luck tonight!
You’re probably right about some of it affecting our ”killer instinct”Yes, it is similar in every Western country these days, but in Sweden, this phenomenon has been present for longer. Sweden transitioned into a left-leaning, socialist, and feministic nation earlier than most other European countries, probably because they could afford to do so as they weren't significantly involved in World War II. Financial success breeds complacency in the general population. As the saying goes, "Good times breed weak men, weak men create hard times, hard times create strong men," and so on. The same phenomenon has caused the rise and fall of every successful nation and empire.
On a positive note, because Sweden started this "complacency/softening process" earlier than many other first-world nations, they may be one of the first to break out of its chains as well.
It's quite likely that this reversal to traditional manly virtues, such as bravery, resilience, etc, is more commonly embraced by young Swedes today than by young Americans. While Americans will have grandparents with such virtues, you have to go back an additional generation to find Swedes possessing them.
Not really, we’re taught about Vasa but not the wider effects of his actions in later years. In summary the conveyed knowledge is not comprehensive enough. You are not taught domestic history in Sweden (it is a forbidden topic).
You are only taught about other countries, cultures and religions.
No wonder the kids don't have belief in themselves.
Hockey is the metaphysical manifestation of the inner spiritual gratification of existence. And some fights. The f*** y’all talking about these last pages? Matriarchal society pseudo-social anthropology, what the hell?
A hockey game has been played in a youth tournament.
Congrats to Finland.
Brutal... I don't think I could face it tbbh.My wife lost 4 pints of blood due to hemorrhaging.
Rooting for you @Czechboy !!Sweating buckets right now. And thank you.
Well thank god for that atleast! She was in the hospital for over a week and had to endure painful iron infusions.
Baby was gigantic and healthy.
Anyway, it’s definitely off-topic but that kind of casual chauvinism shouldn’t go unanswered.
I'm both slightly (ahem) over-aged and the wrong sex but sure, I'll hope on a plane right now!! Do I need to know how to skate?Any chance you can score on the USA? We need one.lol
We will put you netfromt on the PP... Just screen the goalie and hope it hits you and goes in. Thank you in advance.lol. 20 minutes of heart palpitation coming in.I'm both slightly (ahem) over-aged and the wrong sex but sure, I'll hope on a plane right now!! Do I need to know how to skate?
I believe in your team. They'll come back. Still a lot of game left.
How about Belarus and Salt - Lake City 2002.Yeah i remember Slovaks bullying us after the 2010 Olympics qf
Sweden scores 3 goals which wasn't good enough. The team should look in the mirror as well. How about Belarus and Salt - Lake City 2002.
By the way has Tommy Salo already got over of that?
Salo was a great goalie until the Belarus Game. Many forget that. How about Belarus and Salt - Lake City 2002.

My negativity torwards hopes for success started in 2003 against the Sweden in the QF. Probably don't have to remind anyone what happened there.I was one of the super negative people. I assumed the worst, I tend to keep most of my negative feelings to myself because I want to show even a tiny bit of optimism before I post haha.
Yeah, I remember some horrible years. Its been a very quiet few years for Finnish hockey so szome of the worst people are focusing on more important things than laughing here I guess.
I'm too young to remember 2003. My first hockey memory is 2006 olympic silver. My negativity torwards hopes for success started in 2003 against the Sweden in the QF. Probably don't have to remind anyone what happened there.
It faded away from 2011 when we finally started to win these tournaments.
1996 - 2011 was a very dark period.
If you're good enough to play in the WJC, you didn't spend much time in school anyway. No wonder the kids don't have belief in themselves.
And for some reason he refused to pass it to Sandin-Pellikka during that PP, who without a doubt has the best shot on that team. Instead he took all the shoots himself despite not being a good shooter. In the OT PP, Unger Sörum has 3 consecutive shots glove side.
