Olympics: Semi Final Talk!

Russia is clearly the best team left, I have no idea why Finland is mentioned with them. Finland is pretty much dead even with Sweden this tournament.

Finland has a pretty good depth in offense. After the UFA-line there are still more firepower with Pakarinen, Aaltonen and Pesonen. At this tournament where there's no NHL-level defense or goalies, they have enough skill to score the big goals.

Seriously? ROC hasn't really shown anything that makes places them clearly above the rest. A fairer take would be to lump ROC, Finland and Sweden all in the same tier after everything we've seen.

If they both make Finals.. I'd say Finns are favorite. Jalonen and Sisu. By this I mean a 1 goal and very close game.

Because Finland should be mentioned on par with Russia. The bookies have Russia and Finland are both around 38% chance to win the tournament. They don't give those odds based on their opinion but where the money is at.

How would you know when you confessed that you have watched exactly one game in this tournament?

First game I'm watching this tournament. Sweden left their skill players at home and chose the grinders and it shows.

High tempo game with alot of physicality and not many skill plays.

I believe that Sweden and Slovakia will win their semifinals but I hope to see Finland against big mother Russia in the final. That's some great rivalry.

Agree with everything except I cheer for Slovakia after they are put into bronze match.

I rarely want Sweden to win in hockey but this time I did want that, because I thought that they are better than this Euro Canada, thus they would give ROC/RUS a harder game.

Agreed and it would be a total coinflip who would win between ROC & FIN in the final so I'm not even going to guess this time.
 
My expectations for the Swedish team were precisely set today, advancement to QF and departure to Stockholm. They are a round away with a chance to win one of the medals, yet I think the quality is the third team and Slovakia has a much greater desire to win the medal.

The conflict between Znaroks and Gronbörg has unleashed strong animosity between the two nations, now it continues in the semifinals. But here the favorite is clear, I think Sweden will play for the bronze and finish fourth. Finland reminds me of England from last euro in football. They were also considered big favorites from the beginning, they are in the semifinals with a decent chance of a final and they can win their first gold. And I think Jalonen will add a few percent extra and win their first gold. They wait a long time, with NHL players regularly collecting medals and now they can win with euro players. If not Sweden, then I hope Finland wins.
 
Russia vs Sweden will be the most boring game ever. 2 teams who left tons of talent off thier rosters so they could win with defensive hockey.
Well they're both in the semis so I suppose the coaches were right. But still.:boredom:
