The poster said ‘we can thank Bettman for that’. Obviously implying it was Bettman who would not allow the NHL players to participate in the Olympics, thus allowing the Slovak team to be in the running to win gold.

I simply stated that it was not Bettman who prevented the NHL players from participating. In fact the NHL had agreed to let them go. But then COVID hit the NHL, causing games to be postponed, giving players doubt due to maybe being stuck in quarantine in China etc.

Reading comprehension is something you should brush up on.

Sweden always loose against Russia. They could probably send their Junior team and win. Swedens system dont work against the Russian system. Some games we did dominate in shots and possession and still lost. Finland on the other hand can send a second grade schoolclass, first time on skates, and still beat Russia. The way of the hockey gods are mysterious.

It was implied and then also stated explicitly that NHL will not allow players to go to OG because of Covid and fearing they get stuck in quarantine. What I implied is that Covid is just an excuse. Players from Europe faced the same risk and same impact on European leagues, yet European leagues let them go. So no, it's not Covid, it's NHL's financial self interest.

Well, Slovakia will totally fire on all cylinders after that upset over the USA - and it's a very likeable hockey nation, in many ways quite like us, tough fighters who thrive as underdogs. Of all the major nations I would least mind losing to them, the Swiss would come second. But I hope for a traditional Finland: skating hard, being very disciplined and having a hot goalie. If so, we will be clear favourites.

Why Finland is better, what Russia needs to learn from Finland, Finland won because of their Russian players, etc. It is amusing to follow and besides, Finland has the upper hand in hockey than Russia, today Russia is afraid of Finland in hockey, then it was another Soviet era.
