How czechs won against Russia is beyond me
There is quite a difference to play group stage games and then these SF games where you need to be at your absolute best. This is something i haven't seen from Sweden in years, maybe it's the coaching or culture overall nowadays.

But there's always next year, i hope that they lose in group stage so that silly talk about that record would be forgotten and maybe it would give a boost to players aswell.

Congrats to Russia. Good game that could have gone either way, but they are strong this year. Many good performances.

It’s a shame because a positive record like that starts to become a negative thing as the slump gets longer.
I'd gladly take a 53-0 pool record.lol

I get what you're saying... in my prediction I said Sweden's biggest problem is that they haven't had adversity since Day 1 against Finland. That's a long time ago in hockey. Russia has had nothing but battles and were war tested.

The team that lost to Finland in OT in gold medal game was arguably just as good
That team didn't look even close as dominant as this one. The semifinal against US was won mainly due to a great game from Samsonov. This one almost slipped away due to a terrible goaltending.

Hey, how about that Shane Pinto?

How good was Shane Pinto?

Was Shane Pinto one of the top three players selected by the US?

Was Shane Pinto among the tournament leaders in points?

Just asking for a friend.
As a Sens fan I'll let this go.

Russia was bigger and stronger, and made higher hockey IQ players, but Sweden was not weak or bullied around or foolish. Sweden was faster and more elusive, but Russia was not overwhelmingly slower either. Pretty even game, despite differing styles. Fun watch, just not a legendary night for goaltending.

Still, it’s an interpretation thing. I saw it as a bad read. It’s the first thing that Ferraro commented on too. But the point is, even if people are seeing it as a bad play, who exactly said he’s terrible here as you claimed in your post?

There was a poster who said that Sandin had a awful/bad game. But it’s an exaggeration.

I don’t see what the “bad read” or “bad play” is.

Rewatching it, the Russian player comes down the left, cuts to the middle, Sandin keeps him out to the right side, the Russian player throws a shot off, and it goes in.

If Sandin commits more to the Russian with the puck, and he slides it over to #11, then Sandin is being criticized for not minding the passing lane.

Sandin was with him the whole way. He’s covering the middle lane, preventing the Russian player from cutting back in, or making a pass to the other incoming forward.

I don’t think anyone is to blame there. The goalie should’ve made the save, but it was a good shot. Sandin played that as he should’ve.

But I wonder why a bunch of posters were quick to criticize Sandin

How has Alexandrov been this tournament? Is this kid an NHLer at some point?

Yes, they talked about that in the Swedish hockey studio, that they would MUCH rather have faced Finland in the last game than the first. It was a nightmare schedule.

But I think the Swedish team had a fine game. Too shallow in forwards, especially after losing Höglander. Losing to that Russian team is nothing to be ashamed about. Especially not when deciding the game in a Mickey Mouse gimmick.

All I can say to Sandin...Karma is a *****, baby. How do you like that russian D now? Have fun playing for the bronze.

Sandin played that horribly. Let his man get the inside track. That was a 1 on 3 and he let the Russian get inside for the shot and goal.

This isn’t the biggest accomplishment by any stretch. There are four semi finalists every year and in reality only five countries have a legitimate chance to make the semi final in this tournament.

I agree, it is gold or nothing for me. I was just pointing out that making the semis isn’t an improvement at all.

How is it possible? One gold in how many years? I'm getting tired of this f***ing :eek::eek::eek: f*** losing. Fuuujuhjjjjjurjfjdjjd
