An ice pack on the back of the neck isnt how you check for a concussion. There are protocols for that. Its a joke they want to call head shots this tight, but wont do anything to actually see if the player has been concussed.
Absolutely. One of the things I like about IIHF vs NHL is they are stricter in some regards. But on the other hand they lack the professionalism of the NHL.
 
Very even game so far. Sweden is much faster, but Russia has the edge in strength and hockey IQ.

Maybe he felt the most pain in his neck and asked to have it placed on his neck. Doesn't tell me anything if he went through a protocol during or after the period.
It doesn't remove the fact that he was hit to the head and was removed from play and came to only play in the 2nd period.
 
Bad look. What was counterproductive about sending a player who deliberately headshot an opponent? Just the fact that he's the teams leading scorer?
I think it was an instantaneous reaction. Denisenko veers off and it changes the timing of the brace, causing the head contact. Intent isn't clear, I think 2 and 10 would be better.
