I'm a proud American. That said, IF the US beats Finland tonight (no certain thing), and in the gold medal game IF Knight plays the best game fo his life, and IF the rest of the team manages to stay onside, not ice the puck, take no penalties and play perfectly in all other aspects, I put their chances of beating Canada at about 25%. Pains me to say it, but Canada is A friggin' wagon.

Congratulation to all Canadian fans, today was your day, fully deserved win. We will be back stronger and we will get you later. Now go win the gold.

and when he could have been forgiven for being somnambulent during the game against Finland, he was focussed when he had had to snap into the play again. He is consistent as hell.
I had to take a note from that game, too. He's just so strong in what are really lousy games for a goalie. He seems strong mentally, and also his technique seems pretty sound. I'd even say more so than Askarov's, and even beyond holding the stick.

Haven’t seen a goaltending performance like this since Price for Canada at this tournament, from a Canadian goalie btw.

not sure about others, I do still think Price’s was better.

i would put hart's performance on levi's level or a bit better but its pedantic at that point... Levi has been so so solid.

Disgraceful performance by Russia. I have seen video of the '82 and '85 losses, but this is easily the worst Russian performance in WJ history. It was a humiliation for the kids, who know they are much better than the way they looked, and it was an embarrassment for Russian hockey fans, who want to feel pride for being more than just good losers!

All thanks for this debacle go to the Nutty Professor, Igor Larionov. Larionov came into this tournament being one of the most hated names in Russian hockey history, and he did nothing but increase the hockey fans' contempt for him. There is an old Russian proverb that says "Igor Larionov is a dog turd with ears and horn-rimmed glasses." The announcers were chirping about how Larionov had said pre-tournament that he wanted to make playing hockey "fun again" for the kids. I haven't seen a single smile on any kid's face throughout the entire tournament. They are demoralized and dejected. I wish they didn't have to be subjected to another game, a so-called "Bronze Medal," as if it was the Olympics or something. They are likely to have their asses handed to them be either Finland or the United States, given their current state of mind. I hope the Oligarchs (Rotenberg) will pull the plug on Larionov, and have him go back to peddling flesh in North America. But I wouldn't bet on it.

I wonder how Bragin would feel about this version of the team? and how he would coach this team differently compared to Larionov tonight?

There's probably steam coming out of Bragin's ears right now.

Implementing a neo-Soviet style gamplan (with an untalented roster by Russian standards) against arguably Canada;s best team in a decade is insanity. We don't have the talent to do that.

When you're that undermanned you gotta get dirty goals. I have no clue what Larionov is thinking. It's like he's committed to a style moreso than victory.

That said, this is a Canadian team for the ages, thus far. Immensely impressive.
