Can't say it enough. He plays so much better when he's seeing action. 12-16 shots a night doesn't do him good because he never gets into a rhythm.

The analytics tonight confirmed the eye test: our key defensive guys were overtaxed because of the lack of Orlov's presence. Thankfully, Kochetkov was up to the challenge. The Canes might want to acquire an upgrade at 7D if the price is right.

Come on now. The trade was in the works for months and the Canes even talked to MR before the trade. He hasn’t played lights out but simply if he finishes some more chances and Canes aren’t playing like garbage you aren’t saying that comment. No way you can say it wasn’t well researched and Necas is way outside his lane with that comment.
You can criticize the trade and player on a number of levels but I think dismissing the homework behind it is unfounded.

Rod says deadline talk has been weighing on Rantanen, ever since he's gotten here, but especially today. Orlov had a little tweak and said he couldn't go, Stillman will be fine.

I know the fossil collection jokes among a certain segment of our fanbase are going to be unbearable, but OGWAC 2nd in Command (after Burns) Ryan Suter would be a very good add. He has been pretty good defensively for St. Louis in a bottom-pair role, has a dirt-cheap league-minimum cap hit, and probably will be over-the-moon to be a number 7 guy for a top contender.

Fortunately the media shit will stop for a while after tomorrow. I think if we keep him, which seems likely, he'll really pick it up after the deadline and into the playoffs. And hopefully then that'll bode well for negotiations going into the summer. Because of the 4 nations and road trips and now the deadline chaos/uncertainty he still hasn't really had a chance to just settle in yet. He'll have that chance in the last month of the season.
