They needed Tkachuk and to retain pretzel who was a much better fit for our system (and a family guy who would be more attracted to the Triangle).

96 clearly wasn’t researched well enough re his play and as a single guy, what motivates him (lol as Necas pointed out in his recent interview).

But, thank goodness Vancouver Mgt. was dumb enough to retain that highly paid but poorly playing C and Canes dodged a bullet there.

Funny, Avs fans tried to tell us that Mikko quite often skates through games/periods of games sleepily but we refused to believe them.

They were right.

It can be infuriating at times so we can empathize for sure. There were flashes where I swear to God I was watching the second coming of Jaromir Jagr. Just an immovable force that bleeds skill and poise. But after the Cup win especially it felt like he stopped taking his training seriously, which is crazy to think about considering his production. Lehkonen's dad publicly criticized his effort level last season and that's when it kind of clicked into place for a lot of Avs fans.

I really hope he rediscovers his game and sticks around long term for you guys. Always been rooting for the Canes as my team in the East and I'd love to see him thrive there if not on the Avs.
