With the expansion draft there is no way they are moved this year. Next year at the TDL where we can eat 50%salary on both and assuming no major restrictions on where they go, they will draw a lot of interest and get a large package.

Next year's deadline is going to be the prime opportunity to trade them for about a $3.5MM cap hit. Imagine being on a cup run and adding an entire second line.

From Montreal, for the Sedin's at 50% retained I wouldn't mind a deal involving Plekanec, Hudon and a 1st.

Then try and get a top 3 LHD in another deal.

And Vancouver does this, why exactly? Contrary to HF's belief, older players do not abruptly lose value, especially if salary retain is involved. Any discussion with the Sedins going to Montreal involves a prospect you don't want to lose or they retire Canucks.

Soldit! Sold it! Sold it!

Could anyone see the Sedins to NYR??We could retain however much.
These guys played their best years under AV, and I think he's a verrry underrated coach.

I'd want New York's 1st for sure. We could take back the contracts of Nash or McDonagh, or another player with a bloated contract.

We could also send a Dman their way, ie Subban or Sbisa.

Yeah, if anyone could squeeze a few more miles out of the Sedins, it's AV. Rangers seem to have a way of making things work with awkward contracts too...

So if 1st, Dal Colle, Strome, Kulemin, Grabovski, Chimera is fair value what would be the equivalent from the Canadiens?

1st, Juulsen, Carr, Desharnais and Emelin?

Habs send away 7.6M$, acquire 14M$

Not sure I'd do it, probably not. Just asking what Canucks fans are thinking of this.

Pominville, Scandella, Zucker, 16 2nd

Canucks get solid Top 4 D and good middle six W in Zucker. Wild probably add a pick.

2 years ago I said you should trade the sisters....You'll never get the return you could've, now.

Yeah, cause there are teams waiting in line for a pair of 34 year olds with $7 million cap hits. Once gillis extended them in November of 2013, they weren't going to be tradeable until their deals were set to expire.

Hard enough to move a big contract, but to do two? Virtually impossible

I do not believe the Canucks have any desire to trade the Sedins. They are still the leading scorers on the team, are in great shape physically and great mentors to the rest of the team. If anything, I think the Canucks could justify extending the Sedins contracts for an extra couple of years.

The Canucks are struggling right now, but the Sedins are not cause that the team is struggling. The teams biggest problem is the team's lack of high end prospect depth. Thus the team being in a poor position to temporarily being able fill in for injuries to the team's top line players. Instead of near NHL ready top 4 D / top 6 forward prospects the Canucks are forced to use players who are totally struggling to play beyond their current skill level.

Lack of top line prospects is pretty much the fault of management, both current and previous, but stripping the team by trading quality players like the Sedins is not the way to address temporary replacements for short term injuries. That is when you demand the remaining core players to step up their contribution to the team.

Lack of scoring is another key problem for the Canucks, but often scoring and the lack there of, is partly due to players being asked to take on roles they are not ready to handle or skilled for.

I expect the Sedins to eventually slow down to the point that they are no longer first line players, but that is not a reason to trade them off. They are in very good shape and with a skill set & IQ unsurpassed on the team. Even if they are replaced on the top line, they will still be great second or third line players with skills superior to anything the Canucks would recieve should the Canucks trade them.

I think it would be best for the franchise to move on from the twins when their contracts expire.

They need an influx of new young talent and if the twins only want to play with each other, it doesn't really help to develop the younger players.

Sedins at 50% is 7 million right? I think the proposal was with salary retention.
That's a lot coming from NYI and I am a Canucks fan.

The Canadiens offer: Thats a very low first. Juulsen isn't on the same level as Strome or Dal Colle and I don't even know who Carr is  They aren't equivalent offers in my opinion, maybe you value Dal Colle and Strome much lower than I do. I don't think I'd take that package for Sedins though. Seems too much if we take Desharnais off your hands. Three average prospects, a cap dump and Emelin for the Sedins doesn't really scream trade them to me.

Got to think there'd be a bit of interest in the Sedins should Vancouver want to trade him. Would kickstart a rebuild in Vancouver too if they did trade them.

I think individually there would be interest, but to want both, I can't see it.

Will the twins be a fit for the acquiring team? Guys in the secondary role, need to fit into the style.of the acquiring team. Not sure, the twins do that. Neither have speed or play a heavy game.

I think of bonino in Pittsburgh where he is slow bit his wingers are fast. Could the twins mesh with a team like that? Plus, there is the cap considerations.

I think each by themselves could help a team. But, whether they accept deals to different teams will be their call.
